Role
Overall
Fasthosts Internet currently manages over a million domain names, delivers 15 million
emails per day and has multiple gigabit internet connectivity links. You will be a key senior
member in the network team that manages this infrastructure and you will have come from
a similar enterprise ISP/HSP background.
You will be responsible for the day to day operational running and ongoing evolution of the
Fasthosts network infrastructure, IP traffic and connectivity. You will also be involved in the
project management, commercial negotiations and delivery of projects within the
network/connectivity area of the business.
You will have ownership of the design and architecture of our entire network infrastructure,
including the specification and integration of our upstream connectivity ensuring all
solutions are resilient and scalable to meet future business needs.
Responsibilities
Responsible for the ongoing day to day administration and maintenance of the
Fasthosts network including local and upstream connectivity, traffic management
and security.
Responsible with the Technical Director for the design, evolution and architecture of
the Fasthosts network and IP traffic infrastructure.
Development and implementation of our network monitoring strategy.
Development and implementation of our network/IP security policies/firewalling etc
Exceeding platform SLA’s for connectivity and the network and reporting these to
the Technical Director
Managing relations with our upstream connectivity providers, peering partners and
IP transit providers
Person
You will be flexible, innovative and dedicated to meet the demands of working in a large
24/7 web hosting business and will head up the current network team. Some people
management/general management experience would be an advantage.
Qualifications
A CCNP qualification is required; a CCIE qualification would be an advantage. You will be
fully experienced in administering Cisco networking equipment such as 6500 switches,
7600 routers and be expert in routing protocols, internetworking, BGP etc.
Experience of F5 BigIPs would also be advantageous.
Approx salary: £40k - £55k plus benefits depending on relevant experience and
qualifications
Reports to: NOC Manager
Reports: None initially but you will mentor/train other members of staff
