KELVINGROVE REFURBISHMENT APPEAL TRUSTEES ANNOUNCED

Today, 5 March, will see the unveiling of the Kelvingrove Refurbishment Appeal
Trust. The 13 trustees, headed by Lord Macfarlane, aim to raise £5 million towards
the overall £25.5 million cost of the project which will transform Kelvingrove Art
Gallery and Museum.
The trustees, who will be available for interview and pictures before their first
meeting, are:

Bridget McConnell, Director of Cultural and Leisure Services at Glasgow City
Council, said: “I am delighted that this trust has been created. We see this as a
statement of confidence in the council and its policies."

Bailie Liz Cameron, convener of Cultural and Leisure Services at Glasgow City
Council, said: "This is a tremendous step forward and shows that the Council is
willing to try innovative means to secure the future of one of Europe’s finest civic
collections of art and historic artefacts. I am very pleased that Lord Macfarlane,
already a generous benefactor to the city, has agreed to lead this imposing trust and
it shows great confidence in the city's future."
