WATTY GRAHAMS GAC, GLEN – CLUB NOTES - 28/05/12 Club Lotto Results 22/05/12 Lotto numbers were 39, 41 & 45. No winner this week. Next weeks jackpot is £1000. Fundamental Training Fundamental training continues at the football grounds every Monday evening from 6:30pm to 7:15pm. Please spread the word. U14 Girls Feile Fundraiser – Big Black Bag Collection Black Bags (filled or unfilled) will be collected again by club members via a door to door collection this Friday 1 June. Or alternatively you can drop your black bags to the football pitch this Friday 1 June between 7pm and 9pm or this Saturday 2 June between 1pm and 3pm. Thanks for your support. Upcoming Fundraiser – Scrap Metal Saturday! For all you hoarders out there you will soon have a chance to dispose of any unwanted scrap metal items whilst also raising much needed funds for YOUR club. Items such as aluminum cans, brass items, cars, car parts, batteries, copper, gym equipment, lawn mowers, radiators, stainless steel, bed frames, car jacks, basketball hoops, prams / strollers, golf clubs, fans, metal file cabinets, mail boxes, gutters, washers, dryers, range hoods, stoves, toaster ovens, freezers, hot water heaters, ironing boards, ladders, lamps, tyre rims, refrigerators, metal drums, mopeds, shovels, pots and pans, etc are exactly the types of things which we are looking for. No date has been arranged as yet but you will be able to dispose of these items at the football grounds on a coming Saturday which will be confirmed in the club notes very soon. So please if you have any of the items listed above or other scrap metal items which you are ready to dispose of please hang onto them for another few weeks and we will take them off your hands. Keep an eye out for further updates. This Week’s Fixtures (team at home is listed first): Tues 29 May – U14’s v Doire Colmcille at 7:30pm. Sun 3 June (McGlinchey Cup) – Seniors v Greenlough / Castledawson (TBC). Mon 4 June – Kilrea v Minors at 7:15pm. Mon 4 June – Senior Ladies V Craigbane at 7:30pm. Camogie The senior camogs travelled to Ballerin on Thursday evening. Ballerin were the only team unbeaten in the league so far. Despite being missing a number of players due to exam and work commitments the girls stuck to their task and went in level at half time on a scoreline of Glen 1-5 Ballerin 0-8. The second half was a tough contest with neither side willing to give an inch but Glen managed to pull ahead and with 5 minutes left were 2 points to the good, the defended well against the Ballerin attack and held them to one further point. At the final whistle they were a point ahead on a scoreline of Glen 2-9 Ballerin 1-11. This open up the league again with at least 3 teams now having lost one game. Team: Orla McGillian, Hannah Ferguson, Clare Campbell, Laura Coyle, Rebecca Ferguson, Danielle McCrystal, Clare Lagan, Nuala Convery, Caoimhe Glass, Cathy Cassidy, Caoimhe Moran, Aileen McKenna, Orla Lee, Leanne McCrystal & Carla Bradley, Subs used Breige Dougan & Sarah Warnock The under 6, 8 & 10 attended their first tournament of the year in Swatragh on Sunday, This was a very well run tournament with nearly 50 teams taking part. Our Under 6's had a great day and remained unbeaten after playing Swatragh, Ballinascreen, Coleraine & Loup. Well done to the girls especially the ones that played their first ever match. The under 8's remained undefeated in the league section beating Ballerin, Glenullin, Slaughtneil(2) and Swatragh but were unlucky to be beaten by Slaughtneil in the semi final on a scoreline of Glen 1-0, Slaughtneil 2- 0. The under 10's had a good run in the league too, beating Magherafelt, Coleraine(1) & Coleraine(2) along the way but were narrowly defeated but the eventual winners of the tournament Bellaghy. This was a great days camogie and enjoyed by players, manages and parents alike. Well done to all our girls and the future of Glen camogie looks bright.
