Application Berlin, June 3nd 2009 Magnus Rosengarten Reichenberger Str. 36 10999 Berlin Germany WBAI Radio 120 Wall Street, 10th Floor New York, NY 10005 USA Dear Ladies and Gentlemen. My name is Magnus Rosengarten and I am a current student of American and African Studies at Humboldt University Berlin, Germany. I would like to apply for an internship at your radio station from 09/08/17 – 09/09/30. Accompanying my studies I work as a freelance journalist for German public broadcasters, including “Deutsche Welle” and “rbb”, which are part of Germany´s main public broadcasting company “ARD”. Several months ago I was introduced to “WBAI” the first time. I am really impressed with your programme. As an “Afro-German” living in Germany it is very interesting to observe media that intends to integrate minorities´ perspectives and life realities. I am primarily interested in your OutFM show. Experiencing racism in Germany´s gay scene as a serious problem OutFM seems to be a great inspiration how to deal with discrimination in the LGBT community of a multi-ethnic society. For the German programmes I usually work on radio documentaries portraying people living at the margins of society. My last project was a short radio essay for “Deutsche Welle”, dealing with identity questions of my personal life experience as a young Black German in Germany. You can listen to the piece under this link: http://www.dw3d.de/dw/article/0,,4228754,00.html Moreover I hope to give you an additional impression of my person in the enclosed CV. It would be great to hear from you soon. Kind regards, Magnus Rosengarten
