 As part of my professional teacher education preparation, I understand that I will participate in certain
   laboratory experiences in school systems beyond the university campus. I understand that the teacher
   education program at Georgia State University requires me to obtain and provide evidence of having
   adequate tort liability insurance. This coverage is available to me as part of SGAE membership. PAGE
   membership, or private homeowners’ insurance. I understand that I must maintain coverage throughout the
   program.
 I understand that I must submit a passing score report from the GACE Basic Skills Assessment, or a copy of
   SAT, ACT, PRAXIS 1, or GRE scores verifying eligibility for exemption from the GACE Basic Skills
   Assessment.
 I have read and understand the BSE MLE program steps (see Appendix 2 of this application) and feel that I
   am ready to apply to the program for fall entry.
 I understand that upon review of my application, if I meet all entry criteria, I will be contacted by the
   department for an interview. I may be required to produce a typed writing sample (essay) as part of the
   interviewing process.

This application for admission to teacher education can be considered only after the
following requirements have been met:

1. Successful completion of Areas A-F as listed in the Undergraduate Catalog. Grade of “C” or higher
   required in each course in Areas A and F.


   NOTE: If you have completed or are completing an Associate’s degree in teacher education at a University System
         of Georgia institution, please complete the following information:

2. Successful completion of the majority of Area G.1 Content Concentration courses (at least 9 of the 12
   hours in each concentration) with a grade of “C” or higher.

3. Successful completion of all Area G.2 Core Knowledge courses (EDCI 3200, EDCI 3220, IT 3210, EXC
   4020) with a grade of “B” or higher.

4. A passing score on GACE Basic Skills Assessment in Reading, Mathematics, and Writing, or proof of
   eligibility for exemption based on SAT, ACT, PRAXIS 1, or GRE scores.

5. A grade point average of no less than 2.5 (includes GSU and any transfer credit). GPA of 2.75 preferred.

6. After the application deadline, the program coordinator may contact students for an interview. Part of the
   interview may include an on-demand writing sample.

G. PROGRAM PORTFOLIO:

     Each student is required to develop an electronic portfolio throughout the program, which documents his/her growth and
     learning. Portfolios will be evaluated in the final semester of the cohort program sequence. To be approved for
     certification, the student must earn a passing score on all parts of the portfolio.
