CONGRATULATIONS Congratulations to the men's golf team, who finished 3rd at the state championship yesterday with a team score of 304. Drew Minner led the team with a 73 and Michael Pisciotta shot a 74. Seniors - Samuel Jang-Milsten and Taylor Underwood were honored with the Vince Dooley Award at AHS. The Vincent J. Dooley Award is presented by Vince Dooley each spring to one male and one female Georgia high school senior athlete who exemplify distinguished individual character, outstanding teamwork and citizenship. Both were honored at the Atlanta Braves baseball game and Taylor went on to be a “Top 10 Finalist” in the state of Georgia for the Scholarship Award. Congratulations to the Varsity Boys Tennis team who have had an amazing season! Last week they won 3-2 against the defending state champions, Brookwood, in the state tournament. They play away against Lassiter on Tuesday. Please come support our Raiders as they continue their winning season! Congratulations to the Girls Track team for placing 3rd at the GHSA State Championship meet! The following girls placed in the top 8 of their events: Keturah Williams: 2nd in 100 meter, 6th in 200 meter, 3rd in 4x100 relay, and 6th in 4x400 relay; Rachel Thorne: 2nd in 3200 meter and 3rd in 1600 meter; Natalie Bordes: 3rd in 800 meter and 6th in 4x400 relay; Kinn Badger: 7th in Triple jump Audrey Holt: 3rd in 4x100 relay and 6th in 4x400 relay; Sydne Vanhorse: 3rd in 4x100 relay and 6th in 4x400 relay; Congratulations Keturah Williams! Keturah signed a full scholarship to run track and field with East Tennessee State University. Congratulations Jordan Fray! Jordan signed with Ohio Dominican University where he will be throwing with their track & field team. Congratulations Giovanni Sessoms! Giovanni signed with the United States Merchant Marine Academy where he will be throwing for their track & field team. GENERAL INFORMATION All work-based learning program students must turn in all missing hours to Coach Alexander by the end of the week. Anyone interested in playing boys basketball next year and you have not received a summer schedule please pick one up from Coach Pagel office #1320, Coach Yeager room 5206, the front office, or Coach Hurt’s door in the gym. Attention students: Yearbooks will distributed TODAY (5/8) All students may pick up their books during lunch in the ticket book of the art building. Only students with a yearbook distribution card and in id may pick up their yearbooks. You may not pick up a book for a friend no matter what. Remember, no distribution card, no book, no exceptions. If you ordered a book, you must come pick it up-yearbooks will not be delivered to students in their classes. Please see Mrs. Lefkoff in room 2212 if you have any questions. ATTENTION RISING SENIORS APPLYING TO GEORGIA TECH COLLEGE CALCULUS FOR NEXT YEAR: PLEASE GO SEE MRS. LEWIS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE IN COUNSELING SUITE 1310 REGARDING NEW INFORMATION WE JUST RECEIVED FROM GEORGIA TECH FOR ALL APPLICANTS. AGAIN, THIS IS ONLY FOR RISING SENIORS APPLYING TO GEORGIA TECH COLLEGE CALCULUS FOR NEXT YEAR. Students withdrawing at the end of the semester should notify Mrs. Edmiston in Counseling Suite 1320 as soon as possible. At that time she will explain the steps in the withdrawal procedure. She will prepare a packet of information necessary for enrollment at the new school. This packet will be given to the student after his/her last final exam. ATHLETICS, CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS EVENTS The City Of Alpharetta would like to announce the 22nd Annual “Taste of Alpharetta” on Thursday, May 10th from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. This annual event will be located in the historic downtown Alpharetta streets. Please be aware of possible road closures on that day! SUMMER ASSIGNMENTS Students taking AP World next year need to pick up the summer assignment posted on the door of Coach Floyd’s classroom 3217. AP Psychology summer reading assignment is posted outside Classrooms 3210 and 3324. SENIORS There are a few yard signs left for sale. Please stop by the front office to pick them up. $20 each. If you already ordered a sign, but haven't picked it up, it is now in the front office. Attention seniors: if you did not pick up your gap and gown yesterday you can pick them up in the front office. Also please take your gown out of the package and hang it up. This will take the wrinkles out if it. Do not iron it!!! Attention Seniors: Final Transcript Request Forms will be available outside Suite 1310 on Monday May 7th. Please fill out the form and have the Media Center complete their portion on the bottom. All forms are due back to Mrs. Lewis in Suite 1310 by Monday, May 14th. Remember – you must turn in this form in order to be able to participate in graduation practice. Senior Baccalaureate Celebration, a Night of Reflection will be held on Thursday night, May 17, 2012, 7:30 pm at the Johns Creek Baptist Church on McGinnis Ferry Road. Seniors, their family and friends along with teachers and staff are invited. The event is free. The dress code for graduating seniors is; graduation gown (no cap or cords) girls-dresses, guys-dress pants & button down shirts for pictures after. This is a graduation celebration featuring senior speakers and musicians. It is a time of reflection and inspiration to celebrate this new chapter in your lives. Seniors if you have participated in Spanish National Honor Society this year and want a Service Cord please see Senora Gottlieb in room 4218 ASAP!!!! Graduating Seniors, please pick up a “Countdown to Graduation” flyer outside the counseling suites. These flyers are double sided with important information all graduating seniors need to know. Seniors, stop by Counseling Suite 1320 to add your name to the college/career list. The PTSA will be making pennants showing your plans (college, military, or work force) for next year, to display in the main hallway. You must be accepted and have made your final choice before signing up. The deadline is May 4.
