The 1 day symposium began with opening remarks from Drs. Joanne Embree, Peter Cattini and George Zhanel; followed by the
       plenary sessions which consisted of lectures from national, international and departmental keynote speakers. A summary of
       the morning session was delivered by Dr. Ethan Rubinstein. The afternoon session was dedicated to the Department of
       Medical Microbiology Graduate Students and ID/MM Fellows.
