Agreement for Genealogical Services
I, ________________________________________, hereby authorize Anna Caulfield to undertake
genealogical research, retrieval, analysis, and/or writing services on my behalf.
The primary objective of this research project is:
I will provide Anna Caulfield with all pertinent information regarding the research subject(s) before
the start of the project, to avoid duplication of work. This includes any birth, death, or marriage
records, pedigree charts, family group sheets, summaries of any previous research, and known
information such as residences, siblings, occupation, military service, religion, or ethnic origins.
I understand that the rate for services provided is $35 per hour for the first ten hours, then $30 per
hour. This includes evaluation of information that I supply, development of a research plan, on-site
research, online research, analysis and interpretation of findings, photocopies of records obtained, and
preparation of a fully sourced research report. While every effort will be made to find documents, it is
understood that time spent on negative searches is also charged. Expenses incurred from record
procurement, microfilm rental, entry fees, photocopies, parking, and travel outside of Volusia County
will be added to the final bill.
At this time I authorize Anna Caulfield to undertake _______ hours of genealogical services
for a total of $_________, plus expenses up to $______, as outlined above. I understand that the
full balance due is required within 14 days of receipt of the research report.
I am enclosing a check for $175 as an initial retainer, which will be credited to the first five
hours of research. Research will be scheduled to begin after this signed agreement, retainer fee,
and the summary and copies of known information have been received.
Anna Caulfield retains copyright to the client report. I understand I may make personal copies, but may
not publish or electronically post any part of the report without her written permission. She is
authorized to use the report and documentation from this research for purposes such as journal articles,
education, professional certification, and presentations. Anna Caulfield will perform this work as an
independent contractor. She will adhere to prevailing professional standards, including the Code of
Ethics of the Association of Professional Genealogists (APG). This document contains the entire
agreement of the parties. Any issues arising shall be submitted to the arbitration process of APG,
whose findings shall be considered final and binding.
