If you want to earn £14,350 while working towards a qualification, then an apprenticeship with
Lewisham Council could be just what you are looking for.
Our first apprentices joined us in September 2009 in a wide range of areas including youth work,
community arts management, emergency planning, communications, human resources and finance.
How do apprenticeships work?
Apprenticeships are a mixture of on-the-job and off-the-job training. On the job, you will gain key
transferable skills like working in teams, problem-solving, communication and using new technology.
Off the job you will spend time working towards a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) at Level 2
Apprenticeships last for up to two years, subject to satisfactory performance.
Who is eligible to apply
You need to:
be aged between 16 and 24
be a Lewisham resident
be hardworking and committed
hold a full British passport, have indefinite leave to remain or have lived in the EU
continuously for three years or more
have English and Maths GCSE level A-C or equivalent ability (all potential applicants will be
expected to attend an initial assessment session).
Please note: this scheme is not open to graduates.
What apprentices get
Annual salary of £14,350 a year
£500 bonus on completion of year one (subject to exemplary performance/attendance)
26 days' annual leave and eight bank holidays.
You will be supported by your tutor and by an experienced manager at the Council. Once you’ve
completed a Lewisham apprenticeship you’ll be in a strong position to move into a permanent job.
