New Youth Conservationists Program Coordinator
Christodora is a non-sectarian not-for-profit organization, founded in
1897, that creates opportunities for NYC students to have hands-on
experience in nature, learn about the environment, and develop as
students, leaders and members of the community. We operate a wilderness
camp in the Berkshires in Massachusetts and a weekend urban ecology
program based at the New York Botanical Garden, and teach an
environmental science curriculum in NYC public schools.
Coordinator of New Youth Conservationists Programs sought, with
outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills, to run an outdoor
education and environmental restoration program for middle and high
school students based out of the New York Botanical Garden in the
Bronx. The coordinator position is an excellent opportunity for someone
with diverse skills to put them to good use working with students from
throughout New York City in a caring family environment. Background in

program coordinator is to mentor the students throughout the year and
to act as a role model both professionally and as an environmental
steward, while maintaining the group’s strong sense of fun and

•Timely reporting of program agenda’s and lesson plans to Christodora’s
•General program management including coordination of office supplies

•Answer mobile phone and handle inquiries from varied constituencies:
students, parents, donors, alumni, vendors, program partners, and
•Create, maintain and update files and records (electronic contact
database as well as hard copies)—for personnel (including time and
attendance records, new hires, terminations), vendors, donors and
students—and access files information in a timely manner •Track and
communicate operating policies.

Program management and development:
•Vision and resources to allow for program development and to provide
opportunities for motivated program youth to expand their urban

•Planning Bronx River Restoration work.
•Maintenance of program supplies.
•Maintenance of program tools.
•Risk Management Planning.
•Coordination with program partners.
•Recruitment with partner schools and organizations.
•Bachelor’s Degree -- Strongly preferred •Program management experience.
•Excellent time management skills.
•River restoration experience.
•Four plus years of experience working with youth.
•Excellent communication skills, desire and ability to interact with
individuals in a fast-paced multicultural environment.
•Proficient computer skills—Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher
•Independent judgment to plan, prioritize and organize diverse workload,
and to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
•Excellent organizational skills with good follow-up and attention to
detail; resourcefulness to research and problem-solve •Professionalism
to handle confidential information.
