TOURNAMENT RULES
_ Divisions are based upon players ages as of year 2012 league age (As of May 1st, 2011)
Players may play up in age but may not play down.
_ Players may only play on one team in this tournament
_ Sporting News rules shall apply, along with the WHITTIER KAOS Tournament rules.
_ Pitching     restrictions are as follows:
7 & 8u 6 innings max a day total 9 for the tournament.
9u & 10u 6 innings max a day total 9 for the tournament.
11u & 12u 6 innings max a day 9 total for the tournament.
13u 6 innings max a day 9 total for the tournament.
Once a player is removed from the mound, he may not pitch again in that game.
Violations of pitching rules will result in automatic ejection of offending manager and
player. Pitchers awarded 1 extra inning in CHAMPONSHIP GAME ONLY.
_ Pitching distances are as follows:
_ 7/8u – 40 feet 9/10u- 44 feet 11/12u- 50 feet 13u 54 feet 14u- 60 feet
_ In   all divisions 7u and up teams may elect to bat 9 players and/or bat 10
players with the defensive player being an EH. The EH is considered a defensive player
and may switch in and out defensively. Teams may also bat their entire roster. Free
substitution applies when the entire roster bats. If the team bats its entire roster and has
no subs when a starter is injured, then an out is recorded the first time the injured player’s
spot comes up. Starters may re-enter one time in their original spot when batting nine.
Teams must have nine players to start the game.
_ Teams may run for their pitcher and catcher at anytime with a player on the bench. If
all players have been used, then they will use their last out.

TOURNAMENT RULES
_ Length of game: IN POOL PLAY & PLAYOFFS NO NEW INNING AFTER 1:45 MINUTES.
 All games are 6 innings 12u, 7 innings 13u. No new inning after time
expires. Ties count in pool play. Every effort will be made to finish the tournament. In case
of rain, or other unforeseen events the Director reserves the right to modify or shorten
games in order to finish the event. Rainout policy is as follows: 1 game played= 50% off
tournament fees, 2 games played or more - no refunds.
_ 15 run mercy rule will be in effect after 3 innings . An 8 run mercy rule will apply in the
7,8,9,10,11,and 12 year old divisions after 3 ½ innings and the rule will apply after 4 ½
innings in 13 and up.
_ All substitutions must be made through the umpire, including pitching changes. The
umpire will work closely with the official scorekeeper.
_ Pitching logs must be completed and signed after each game by the umpire. Any
team that has not updated their log could face expulsion from the tournament. Please
keep your log updated and in your book. A duplicate will be kept at the registration booth.
_ Home team will be determined by a coin flip and should occupy the 3rd base dugout.
_ In the playoffs, the higher seed is the home team in all playoff games.
_ No metal cleats in 10u and under. NO METAL CLEATS ON MOUNDS!!!!
_ All protest will be ruled upon immediately and all decisions are final.
_ Absolutely, no pre-game infield on any of the fields. Warm up in foul territories.
_ There will be tournament directors available for all divisions. If you can’t find a director,
please report to the desk next to the snack bar.
_ There will be a registration desk located next to the snack bar for information. There will
also be brackets posted on the backside of the snack bar for game updates.
_ All managers are responsible for their fans. It will be their responsibility to keep the fans
in line.
_ Ties count in Pool Play
_ Playoff seeding are done by Best Record. In case of tie we will use the following: 1)
Head to Head 2) Least Runs allowed 3) Most Runs scored.
_ Championship games will use the California tie-breaker for games that go extra innings
_ Ejections- If a player or manager is ejected they must sit out the next scheduled game
unless determined otherwise by the tournament director - John Berumen.
_ Any team found using an illegal player will be removed from the tournament and may be
banned from any future Whittier Kaos tournaments.
_ We always do our best to start our games on time. We do however like to have innings
completed, rather than reverting back to the previous inning. With this rule, we
sometimes run over on time.
WHITTIERKAOS RULES
7 AND 8 UNDER DIVISION
Pitching distance shall be 40 ft mound and 60 ft bases
Bunting is allowed
Pitching restrictions are 4 innings in a day. 7 innings for the entire tournament. 1 pitch is
considered an inning. Once a pitcher is removed from mound, he may not return to pitch
in that game.
No lead-offs. Players cannot leave base until after ball crosses home plate.
Stealing is allowed. Runners may advance once the ball is passed home plate at their
own risk. If a player leaves early and is thrown out, he is out. If he is safe, he must return
to previous base. 2nd offense by same player in same inning will result in out. If ball is hit,
the defensive team has the option of the result of the play or dead ball and runner returns
and hitter hits again.
Stealing home is not allowed. Home plate is dead. Runner on 3rd must be forced home
by a walk, HBP, or advance on a hit ball.
NO NEW INNING AFTER 1:30 MINUTES IN POOL PLAY ONLY.
Mercy rule: 15 runs after 3 innings, 8 runs after 4 innings.
Courtesy runners are allowed for pitcher or catcher at any time.
It is the base runner's responsibility to avoid contact with fielder in possession of the ball.
To Intentionally walk a batter, no pitches are thrown. Coach or fielder just needs to inform
umpire and point to first base.
Balk rules do not apply in 7U OR 8U.
Batters may not advance to first on dropped third strikes.
The infield fly rule is in effect
