Applicants must be enrolled at Virginia Tech during the academic year to be considered for employment. If hired, you must have the
appropriate official documents (driver's license, social security card, birth certificate, U.S. passport, etc) proving your eligibility to work in
the United States. Your signature authorizes the Department of Music the permission to verify any information presented on this
application.

                            To be considered for student employment in the Department of Music, you must:
                               Be a Virginia Tech student enrolled for a minimum of the following hours:
                                                    Undergraduate students: 6 hours
                                                      Graduate students: 5 hours
                                                    Summer school students: 3 hours
       (Students not enrolled in summer, but enrolled the previous spring and following fall semesters are eligible, but will be required to pay social security taxes.)


                                                        Have work-study through the Financial Aid office.
                                         You must attach a copy of your 2012-13 Award Letter with this application.
                                               Note: Your eligibility for financial aid may be affected by
                                    on-campus employment. It is your responsibility to notify the Financial Aid Office.

                                                                Other important information:
              Resident Aliens/Visa F-1 holders are restricted to 20 hours a week during the academic year.
          Students must complete a new application for each academic year. Hiring is completed “as needed”.
 Students are hired based on experience, criteria relevant to the department, and in some positions -- work-study funds.
                      If a supervisor is interested in hiring you, he or she will contact you directly.
         Pay rates vary with the level of responsibilities of each position and the experience of each applicant.
                  You must complete all sections of this application to be considered for employment.

NOTE: Students awarded Federal Work Study must accept or decline the award on the Hokie SPA by their due date.
Failure to accept the Federal Work Study award by the due date will result in cancelation of Federal Work Study.
Students will also be given a deadline to obtain a FWS job or FWS funds will be canceled. (Normally in September.)
