Is my project eligible?
Funding is available under two categories:
1. Training/Development Initiatives
Focusing on enhancing the knowledge, skills and abilities of people in your organisation
Focusing on developing quality coaching resources in Waterford and encouraging all leaders
working with young people to undertake appropriate education and training
Presenter fees and course fees eligible
2. Special Project Participation Initiatives
Focusing on initiatives that will attract new members/participants (both players & volunteers) and
enhance their ongoing participation
Must demonstrate how they relate to the provision of sport or physically active recreation
opportunities in their community
Must demonstrate sustainability
Prioritise participation in sport and physically active recreation by groups with low participation
rates such as young people, women, people with disabilities, travellers, refugees and the
Who can apply?
To be eligible organisations/clubs/projects must:
- operate as a ‘not for profit’ club or organisation that is open to public membership
- have a primary objective of sport or physically active recreation
- have policies and practices that encourage participation regardless of gender, age, race or ability
- operate under the basis of best practice for children in sport
Who is ineligible to apply?
Individuals and the following organisations are not eligible to apply:
- National/Regional/County Governing Bodies
- For profit groups/commercial organisations
- Private facility owners
- Statutory agencies
- Applications eligible for funding under other schemes will not be considered

How much funding is available per club/organisation/project?
Training/Development Initiatives – up to €500
Special Project Participation Initiatives – up to €1,500 for projects increasing participation of girls/women
and people with a disability, up to €1,000 for projects increasing participation of other low participation
groups (exception - equipment fund for new clubs – max €500).
On receipt of applications a club/organisation may be requested to make minor amendments to
their application following consultation with the Sports Co-ordinator.
Applicants should note that successful clubs/organisations must comply with any reasonable
request regarding publicity from the funding agency.
Any club/organisation funded under this scheme must submit an end of project report to the
Waterford Sports Partnership. You may be asked to supply documentary evidence of how the funds
