Arts and Clubs

Interested in being a part of Linn-Mar's Science Quiz Bowl team? Informational meeting next Thursday
morning, Sept. 6 at 8:00 in Mrs. Connerly's room. J202. All are invited.

The National Honor society officers will be having a meeting in Mrs. Sullivan's room at 8 am on Wed.
September 5th at 8am. All NHS officers come to room l110 on Wednesday.

French Club will meet Wed. Sept 5 in Ms. Condon's room

Anyone interested in Trap shooting, there will be a meeting this coming Wednesday at 8:00 am in room G143B.
If you have questions she Mr. Pilcher in the same room.

Attention TRY students, there is an important meeting on Wednesday, September 5th at 8:05am in the Little
Theater. We will be sign up for numerous activities. If you can't make it see Kevin McCauley.

Attention all students interested in being a part of the Drama Production Tech Crew. Tech will meet on
Thursday Sept 6, after school in Study Hall. Come help build the set for the freshman production of
Frankenstein.

Do you like to speak Spanish? To help others? To try new experiences? Then Spanish Club is for you! Come to
our first meeting, Wednesday, September 5th at 8am or 3:30 pm. We will meet in L118, Mrs Kaalberg's room.
Come and find out what fun activities we have planned for the year.

Linn-Mar’s Fellowship of Christian athletes is kicking off the school year TONIGHT. It’s a different set up this
year so come out to Taube Park Friday at 7pm for some intense games of ultimate Frisbee! If you have
questions see Mr. Hoefle or check us out on facebook, see you there!

 Model UN is hosting a blood drive on September 7th in the Little Theatre, starting at 7:30 AM. Each donation
has the potential to save three lives. Please see a Model UN member in the 4 corners in the morning or Mr.
Gehrls in Room E133 to sign up.

The Linn-Mar math team competes against other local school in problem solving contests. Sign up this week in
Mr. Schmitt's room, B004, if you want to join or simply want more information.

Linn-Mar Best Buddies is now accepting applications to join! Go to www.bestbuddiesonline.orgto sign up. Just click on
"membership application". Deadline to sign up is Friday, September 14th. If you have questions contact Alexa
Klimes.

The yearbook staff has extra yearbooks from the 2000, 2002, 2005, 2008 & 2009 school years. They will be
sold for the discounted price of $10. If you are interested, please pick up an order form in the main office.

Students grades 9-12 wishing to be in the Student Advisory group, please pick up an application from the main
office. These are due back to the main office TODAY. Student Advisory is comprised of volunteer members if
the student body whose purpose is to meet with members of the high school Administrative team, provide
feedback and advise on various policy or procedure matters.

JV Football will host IC High at 9am
Var Girls Swimming will travel to Muscatine at 9am
Var VB will play in CR Wash Invite at 9am

LMTV has confirmed that the 1600 The Zone, Mount Mercy Tailgate Tour will
be making a stop HERE on the Linn-Mar Campus! The tailgate tour comes
complete with fabulous free prizes from area merchants. (Gfx) The tour van,
and various other vendors, will be set-up outside of door 10, that’s the gym
door, right after school on Friday, September 14th-- the night of our big
football game against Washington. ((gfx ends)) You might even get the chance
to be a radio star. The Zone will be broadcasting LIVE from our campus. Check
it out, Friday September 14th.


Attention all students: If you have purchased an activity pass, it is your responsibility to
check your ID to make sure that you have a green dot on it. If you come to an event and
do not have the green dot is not on your ID, you will have to pay for the event. See Pam
in the Attendance Office as soon as possible if you think you have purchased an activity
pass. Your card will need to be switched out to reflect the Activity Pass.
Do you enjoy being at sporting events and have an energetic personality? If so, you might be interested in
being the mascot for Linn-Mar home football games? All those interested should talk to Mrs. Youngkent in
Room G144 as soon as possible!

Counseling News

Don't miss your opportunity to do a fall job shadow this year! All sophomores, juniors, and seniors are eligible. See
counseling office for more information or go to the counseling office website for the link to the Workplace Learning
Connection. Deadline to apply is Sept. 18.

Juniors or seniors interested in international study should consider the Rotary Youth Exchange program. For
application information, see Mr. Kennedy in the counseling office.

Looking for a worthwhile way to spend your time helping others? Do you have a special flair in certain subject
areas? Then stop by the counseling office and complete an application to be a Linn-Mar Student Tutor! If you
were a tutor last year, please complete a new form for Ms. Griswold. If you are new to this and have questions,
please see Ms. Griswold for more information. It's a great way to earn CORDS hours!

Are you needing additional assistance in a class? Your #1 resource is your teacher, but if you feel additional
support would help, please fill out an application to get a tutor. Forms are available in the counseling office and
you may see Ms. Griswold if you have questions.
Students taking a Kirkwood course not offered at Linn Mar must stop by the counseling office to check-out
their textbooks. Please see your counselor if you have any questions about your Kirkwood courses.
