Program Manager-Soccer Operations Position Type: Full Time About DC SCORES: DC SCORES builds teams through after school programs for 1,450 DC youth at 42 schools by instilling self-expression, physical fitness, and a sense of community. Through an innovative model combining poetry and spoken word, soccer, and service-learning year-round, students are engaged in arts, athletics, and academics daily. At DC SCORES, we believe that every child should grow up with these basic elements available to them. We have worked with over 7,000 students since our founding in 1994. DC SCORES is a nonprofit 501c3 organization; our current annual budget is approximately $1.4M and we are preparing for steady growth over the next five years to meet the growing needs in Washington, DC. DC SCORES is an affiliate of America SCORES, with organizations in 14 cities. About the position: As a member of our program staff team, the Program Manager-Soccer Operations will have a central role in implementing and supporting the implementation of the core DC SCORES after-school program in 27 elementary and middle schools and the Soccer for Success program in 15 elementary and middle schools. This position will largely focus on two core responsibilities: supporting over 80 coaches who implement the soccer portion of our program daily and coordinating our elementary and middle school soccer leagues. A successful candidate will be highly organized, have coaching and training experience, a team-centered approach to working with others and possess a positive youth development framework. This position will be supervised by Deputy Director of Program and manage at least two soccer-specific staff members. Other desirable competencies include staff development, program evaluation, and large-scale event planning experience. Importantly, the candidate must be passionate about expanding soccer to communities not traditionally exposed to the game. Responsibilities: ● Recruit, observe, and evaluate soccer coaches with varying experience; ● Oversee and implement a cohesive training and on-site support system for coaches; ● Comply with organizational practices to measure program impact and quality; ● Manage two school-based soccer leagues, inclusive of field preparation, game-day management, and consistent troubleshooting; ● Oversee and implement ‘off-season’ soccer-related programming (winter clinics / summer camps); ● Manage soccer-related inventory, equipment maintenance and replacement schedule; ● Oversee and implement soccer-related special events; ● Oversee soccer-specific staff to meet training and support standards; ● Contribute to continuous monitoring and improvement of overall program health; and ● Contribute to the overall strategic direction and sustainability of the organization. Qualifications: ● Passion for urban education, the sport of soccer and youth development; ● 2 to 3 years experience working directly with youth or in education; ● High level knowledge of the game of soccer and coaching; Minimum of USSF ‘D’ coaching license preferred; ● Excellent organizational abilities and capacity to manage multiple projects; ● Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ● Excellent people skills in diverse environments; ● Experience with Microsoft Office; ● Daily access to a car and a clean driving record; ● Experience with Google Applications a plus; ● Background in health and nutrition a plus; and ● Bilingual in Spanish a huge plus.
