POSITION SUMMARY:
Assists in planning and coordinating the sponsored project activities of the office. Develops and administers
procedures designed to comply with appropriate regulations relating to the administration of government and
private research grants, contracts, and other sponsored projects for the interpretation and application of such
procedures and regulations.

POSITION KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1.    Provides oversight and guidance to Principal Investigators (PI) on the development of grant applications
      or contract proposals.
2.    Works with departmental staff to process grant applications for deadlines or contract proposals.
3.    Acts as a liaison between the PIs, UTHealth and sponsors by providing justification, documentation, and
      policy/guideline interpretation.
4.    Negotiates contracts and/or agreements to ensure compliance with agency and/or sponsor, State, UT
      System, and institutional requirements.
5.    Provides assistance to Principal Investigators (PIs) and school and/or department staff in the processing
      of contracts and/or agreements.
6.    Works with stakeholders, including PIs, Sponsors, legal Affairs, Technology Management, and UT
      System, to resolve problems and negotiate issues on contracts and/or agreements.
7.    Negotiates with agency contacts regarding renewal of contracts and/or subcontracts.
8.    Coordinates account setup with the Post-Award Finance team.
9.    Gathers and analyzes data to create reports regarding institutional funding, grants and awards.
10.   May analyze proposed grants and contract proposals and awards for special conditions and/or
      restrictions, and establishes controls as needed to ensure full compliance.
11.   May distribute pertinent information relating to contractual provisions and obligations to Principal
      Investigators.
12.   Provides mentoring to departmental staff.
13.   Performs other duties as assigned.

CERTIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
Effective communication and negotiation skills

MINIMUM EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience in lieu of education

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
Two years of experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount
constantly to move objects.
