Academic Board for Concessions and Discipline: Terms of Reference 2009/10
1 Under the Ordinances and Regulations to be responsible to the Senate for the effective
operation of the College’s procedures for the admission, progression and examination of
2 To approve the recommendations of Admissions Boards for applicants to be offered places
to study at the College.
3 To approve the recommendations of Interim Examination Boards for the progression of a
student to a subsequent year of study.
4 To approve the recommendations of Final Examination Boards, when required, on behalf
of the Senate.
5 To terminate the studies of any student whose work is found after examination to be
6 To hear appeals, on grounds specified in the Regulations, against failure, at Entrance,
Interim or Final Examination.
7 Under Ordinance 9 Part II to decide, after a hearing, what action should be taken against a
student accused of serious misconduct.
8 To operate the College’s procedures relating to student academic concessions, e.g., period
of study, basis of registration, academic qualifications, experience and age.
9 To advise the Senate on policy issues relating to the recruitment, admission, progression
and examination of students.
10 To monitor progress in implementing the College’s equal opportunities policy as regards
11 To submit a written report annually to the Senate on the Board’s work.
12 To act as a reserved business committee concerning individual student matters.
13 To undertake such other functions as may be determined by the Senate.
