   Washington D.C. is the
    capital city of the USA
   It is situated on the
    Potomac River, about 90
    miles from the Atlantic.
   The population is about
    600 thousand.
   The letters D.C. mean
    District of Colombia- it as
    a federal area that was
    chosen to build the capital
    city there
                   a bit from the history

-   Originally there were two
    other capital cities
    –New York and
    Philadelphia
-   It was decided to build a
    completely new city to
    become the national capital             George Washington
-   George Washington hired a
    French engineer Pierre
    Charles L´Enfant in 1791
-   The whole city was
    designed in European style
-   The first completed
    building was the White
    House
