                            OSSSL BOARD MEETING MINUTES

                    Round Table Pizza 20920 Redwood Road, Castro Valley
                            Wednesday, June 8, 2011 7:00 p.m.

Call to Order:
President Duane Rueppel called the meeting to order at 7:10 p.m.

Secretary’s Report: No report.

Treasurer’s Report:
Treasurer Chris Finck reported approximately $54,000 the League’s accounts. He has a proposal
from Union Bank to put the money where it will earn more.
Tree checks were advanced to Union City Rep Gloria Ibarra for the Halloween social event;
$925 for hall rental ($400 refund after event), $250for required security guard, $500 for food.
$1000 check was advanced to Fremont Rep for June 12 OSSSL BBQ & pickup soccer event.

The newly formed Investment Committee discussed scheduling its first meeting, and decided to
meet directly following the June Board meeting.

Vice President’s Report:
Cynthia asked City Reps to tell teams to turn in all game cards now. Game cards are due by June
30 or teams may be fined. Game cards are necessary to determine standings to be used at the
annual Alignment Committee meeting on July 6.

President’s Report:
Duane reported that June Cup tournament is full with 12 teams. An investment committee is
being formed to consider and recommend various investment options.
Two appeals will be hard immediately after the Board meeting tonight; Kok Tai Neo (Nic) of
Fremont Specials and Greg Powell of CV Tankers each received a 12 game suspension for
Violent Conduct at the Disciplinary Committee hearing held on May 5.

Registrar’s Report:
Registrar Julie Johnson reported business is slow now. She has sent a letter to City Reps,
instructing them to turn in their player passes, rosters and registration fees by June 30. Do not
change player pass numbers on the roster. Let her know which number to rserve for returning
players that are not on the initial registration.
A motion by Treasurer Chris Finck was made and seconded to allow payment of $700 to the
OSSSL Registrar for Fall half of Registrar fee. Motion passed unanimous.

Standing Committee Reports:

Disciplinary Committee
Disciplinary Committee Chair Rich Cortez reported that there are five send-off reports to be
acted on tonight, immediately after the Board meeting.

Referee Improvement Committee

Tournament Committee
OSSSL Board Meeting                                                           June 8, 2011

Tournament Committee Member Alex Sweet-Bayer reported that tournament and rainout
information is available on the website fremontadultsoccer.com. The website is hosted by
godaddy.com
Fremont tournament has a Logo for the tee-shirts, color for championship shirts, ad a soccer ball
will be given to each team entering. Flags will be put at each field with field number because
some teams had difficulty finding fields last year.
The tournament has one sponsor so far, Peak Performance, for $150. There may be a second
sponsor, VW of Santa Clara.

Masters Division Committee
Masters Division is half way through this session. The problem with lights been solved.

Open Division Committee
No report.

Social Committee
There will be an OSSSL Halloween event on October 22, 2011. There will be a costume contest,
prizes, and a DJ. Tickets will be $5 per person. Teams will pay up front for a batch of tickets. No
tickets given on consignment. Last Halloween event attracted 178 participants.

City Rep Reports:

Castro Valley—No report.

Fremont—Motion made and seconded to accept a new team, Fremont Clash, into the League.
Motion passed. Team Rep, Rudy, from Newark, used to play on the Tops. Team will pe placed in
the lineup at the Alignment Committee meeting on July 6.
James Sajadi reported that price of the goals for Sylvester Harvey was a sale price and had
recently doubled. Fremont reps will continue to look for goals at a reasonable price.
Frank reported that he is in discussion with Fremont Parks and that they may able to use Fremont
Central Park for both Spring and Fall halves of the season.

Hayward—No report.

Livermore—No report.

Newark—No report.

Oakland/Alameda—No report.

Union City—
Fremont Pioneers did not pay referee at game with UC America on June 5. Scott from America
talked to Armando on Pioneers and Pioneers paid.

We may consider changing number of games and start dates of the coming season at the
Alignment Committee meeting on July 6.
