Volunteer Coordinator- Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) Project
Legal Aid is seeking a Volunteer Coordinator for its Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) Project. The EITC Project
brings together community organizations and volunteers to work in a coalition with the IRS Volunteer Income Tax
Assistance (VITA) program. Through the VITA program, we educate families and the community about the EIC
and run free tax preparation sites where low-income families can get their taxes completed at no charge. The
Volunteer Coordinator will work with the EITC Project Manager to recruit, coordinate and manage volunteers to
staff the free tax preparation sites in Butler, Clermont and Hamilton Counties.
Duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
• Assist with outreach and education to non-profit and community organizations about VITA
• Assist with the distribution of marketing materials to community partners and tax sites
• Assist with volunteer training sessions
• Maintain volunteer database
• Plan end-of-season volunteer Celebration/Recognition
• Maintain confidential records to be submitted to the IRS
The successful applicant will meet the following qualifications:
• Experience working with volunteers (preferred)
• Good communication skills
• Reliable transportation (mileage to be reimbursed at Legal Aid’s program rate)
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some weekend and evening hours (especially during tax season)
• Demonstrated ability to work well independently and as a member of a team
• Ability to lift 25 pounds
• Computer skills – basic competency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and databases
This is a seasonal position (October 1, 2011 – April 31, 2012) for 25 hours a week. Based in our Cincinnati
office, the position requires some travel to Butler and Clermont counties. The pay is $8,100 ($9.00 per hour).
