JOB DESCRIPTION (Fixed Term: May - October 2012) Job Title: Social media intern Reporting to: Marketing team Line Managing: N/A Location: London Contract Type: Part time: four hours per day, two days per week JOB PROFILE We are looking for a bright and proactive social media intern to join the team for a five month internship. You’ll benefit from working alongside a small Marketing team, meaning you’ll be very hands on. Your primary responsibility will be to help boost the online profile of our website and conferences through utilising LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, blogging and other means. You’ll support all aspects of the social media strategy, including running social media campaigns for three of our flagship events: Fundraising Online, the International Workshop on Resource Mobilisation (IWRM) Asia, and the International Fundraising Congress (IFC). You should have a grounding in digital and social media and a knowledge of the latest trends and marketing techniques. We are particularly interested in self-starters who already have an online presence. This will be a great opportunity for someone interested in a career in social media to get real experience. You will have free reign to put all your ideas into practice and receive help, support, advice and training with all aspects of the work. The position will be expenses only (travel and lunch allowance). KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Social media marketing Creating, managing and growing the Resource Alliance’s online presence through blogs, Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn Uploading videos to Vimeo and YouTube and promoting these through the social media networks Researching new social networks that our events could have an online present on. Supporting the Marketing and Database Administrator with the implementation of PPC and SEO campaigns. March 2012 Page 1 of 2 Customer relations Starting discussions and polls, answering questions and developing interactions via e-mail, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn etc. Content calendar Writing blogs, articles, newsletters, communication materials, and material for social media channels Developing and implementing social media activity on the event planning schedules Other To provide a monthly report on the current social media stats and current numbers. PERSON SPECIFICATION Essential Someone looking for a career in social media Skills and good knowledge on socials such as Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter Good English writing skills; such as being able to proof read and write online copy Good communication and interpersonal skills Someone prepared to do some self-study and research to improve their social media marketing techniques Experience of using software such as TweetAdder and TweetDeck Work independently and take initiative A high level of computer literacy Attention to detail Good team player Willing to take a flexible approach to hours worked. Desirable Previous experience of online and digital marketing An interest in and/or experience of promoting events or conference marketing Prior experience of PPC and SEO campaigns A passion for marketing Some knowledge of the fundraising sector.
