                                  Towards Inclusion Grant
         The Towards Inclusion Grant can offer people who have a mental illness the
         opportunity to apply for money towards an activity or equipment that would
         make a positive contribution to their wellbeing. In order to apply the
         individual must be registered with Mid Essex Community Services.

         You can apply for a Towards Inclusion Grant of up to £150 per individual, or
         £300 per group, per year that can be used to contribute towards:
             the cost of purchasing equipment to help you take up a hobby or
               interest
             putting on a local event or workshop
             contribution towards costs of activities for groups
             training / adult education classes
             helping you take part in your chosen activity e.g. transport
             costs that cannot be met from other sources.

              Mid Essex Children’s Partnership Small grants

         Essex Community Foundation has announced the second round of the Essex
         County Council Mid Essex Children’s Partnership Small Grants Fund. Grants
         are available for organisations that support young people aged 8-16 (although
         there is a particular focus on young 8-12 years old) for projects that achieve
         one of more of the below outcomes:

                 Children, young people and parents/ carers have improved emotional
                  wellbeing, mental health, self esteem and confidence and are
                  emotionally resilient;
                 Children, young people and families are involved in their community
                  and live safely within families and communities.

                               FREE Help with contracting
                                        What is needed in Essex?

         Voluntary Sector Training have announced that The Learning Partnership, on
         behalf of learn EAST* has successfully secured funding to support the sector
         in building capacity to engage with contracting processes and increase its
         sustainability.

         This means the project will provide FREE training workshops and events
         to help organisations get “Fit for the Future” by providing ideas and
         knowledge around achieving sustainability.

         Consultation is currently being carried out to determine the support that will
         be made available through the workshop delivery and organisations are being
         asked to complete a short online survey

         As an extra incentive each person who completes the survey will be
         entered into a draw to win £50 of high street shopping vouchers
         with a winner in each of the six learn EAST counties.

         The survey closes on Wednesday 9th May.

                    Apply for Business rate relief from MDC

         Charities are entitled to relief from rates on any non-domestic property that is
         wholly or mainly used for charitable purposes. Relief is given at 80% of the
         bill and Maldon District Council has the discretion to give a further relief on
         the remaining 20% of the bill to organisations whose property is used wholly
         or mainly for charitable purposes.

         Charities that wish to apply for the 20% discretionary element of business
         rate relief of 2013/14 must complete two forms: the ‘General Discretionary
         application form’ and the ‘CASC, charities and not-for-profit additional
         questions’.

                   Involving local people in health decisions

         The Mid Essex Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) will commission local
         services from 1st April 2013. To find out more about how this they are inviting
         voluntary and community groups to attend a workshop about the
         commissioning priorities within their plan for 2013/14 and beyond

         The programme for the day will offer a choice of sessions including:

         Commissioning Priorities
            Urgent care
            Long term conditions
            Older people

         Patient and Public Engagement (PPE)
