                TEST AND ACCEPTANCE PROCEDURE
                     (Repair of Transceiver Sets)



 1. GENERAL

     1.1    Scope:     This procedure is applicable to the test and
            evaluation of repaired transceiver radios primarily procured
            by the Army.

     1.2    Objectives: To determine the physical characteristics and
            operational capabilities of the repaired radios.

 2. TEST PARAMETERS

     2.1    Visual Inspection
           2.1.1 Purpose:       To determine the overall workmanship of
                 the repaired radios.
           2.1.2 Procedure:     Visually inspect the overall workmanship of
                 the repaired radios.
           2.1.3 Standards:     The repaired radio shall have no form of
                 imperfections that may affect the serviceability.
     2.2    Power Output Test
      2.2.1 Purpose: To determine the power output of the repaired
              radios.
      2.2.2 Procedures:
           2.2.2.1   Calibrate the wattmeter instrument.
           2.2.2.2   Connect the antenna connector of the repaired radios
                     to the wattmeter.
           2.2.2.3   Initiate radio transmission.
           2.2.2.4   Observe the meter reading.
      2.2.3 Standard:           The wattmeter reading must be within the
              range depending on the type of radio as follows;

TRC-80/TK-80                              80-100 Watts
URC-187                                   15-18 Watts
PRC-77/PRC-1077                           2-5 Watts

        2.3    Sensitivity Test
           2.3.1 Purpose:           To determine the receive sensitivity of the
                 repaired radios.
           2.3.2 Procedure:
              2.3.2.1   Calibrate meter reading instrument.
              2.3.2.2   Connect the repaired radios to the RF Generator with
                        internal modulation and microvolt output reading.
              2.3.2.3   Adjust the RF level.
              2.3.2.4   Observe the reading.
           2.3.3 Standard:          The repaired radios must be able to receive
                 the signal strength at the following voltages, based on the
                 type of the radio as follows;

URC-187/Harris 2301/3201/TRC-80                           0.60 to 0.70 µV
PRC-77/PRC-1077/PRC-126/PRM4720B                          0.22 to .35 µV


        2.4    Frequency Stability Test
           2.4.1 Purpose:           To determine the electrical characteristic of
                 the repaired radio in terms of frequency accuracy.
           2.4.2 Procedures:
              2.4.2.1   Set the repaired radios to a preset test frequency.

              2.4.2.2   Connect the RF out of the test radio to the frequency
                        counter instrument.
              2.4.2.3   Press the PTT or initiate transmission.
              2.4.2.4   Observe the frequency counter reading as compared
                        to the preset frequency.
           2.4.3 Standard:         The frequency counter reading of the radio
                 must be within the frequency deviation depending on the
                 frequency band, as follows;


           Frequency Band                                  Deviation
VHF/UHF Band                               0.10 to 10 Hz
HF Band                                    +/- 1 Hz


        2.5    Propagation Test/Transmission Test

           2.5.1 Purpose: To determine         the readability/clarity of      voice
                 transmission of the repaired radio at known distance.
           2.5.2 Procedure:
              2.5.2.1   Establish one (1) repaired radios at CESCo, SGPA.
              2.5.2.2   Initiate radio contact based on the propagation
                        distance of the repaired radios.
           2.5.3 Standard: The repaired radio must be able to receive and
                 transmit voice signal clearly, based on the type of radio and
                 propagation distances, as follows
