We had a dream…

During our latest economic mission to Chongqing in June 2010, the Chongqing government
informed us about their ambitious project to launch a rail cargo from Chongqing to Europe.

Time to act, we thought. Indeed, finding the right partners at Antwerp side and collecting cargo
from Belgium to Chongqing would be the perfect opportunity to put the Antwerp region once
again in the spotlights as a global distribution hub and main port to Europe.
The Belgian customs decided to take the project one step further by launching the “Antwerp-
Chongqing Green Trade Lane by train”, a world scoop.

More than a dream…

Meanwhile we found the necessary partners to make the dream come true. We have intense
contacts with a crucial rail operator who will literally guide us through Russia, Mongolia and
This secured trade lane connection by train will guarantee a faster connection than maritime
transport (21 days vs. 40 days) and a cheaper alternative than air freight.

How about you…?

It goes without saying that only a joint cooperation between government and Belgian producers
and logistic players will make a success of this project. We are therefore pleased to invite you to
the official launch of the “Antwerp-Chongqing Green Trade Lane by train”.
