Force.com Connect for Lotus Notes to your organization:

                          1. Back up your users’ Lotus Notes databases.
Also, make sure you have a recent backup of your organization’s Salesforce data. Organizations
with Enterprise or Unlimited Editions can back up their organization’s data using weekly export.
Weekly export is also available in Professional Edition for an additional cost.
                          2. On your computer, exit Lotus Notes.
                          3. In Salesforce, go to the Connect for Lotus Notes download page at Your Name > Setup >
Desktop Integration > Connect for Lotus Notes. Note that in Enterprise and Unlimited
Editions, an option on your profile controls whether this download page displays.
                          4. Save the .msi file to your computer. You will use this file when you roll out Connect for Lotus
                             Notes to your users.
                          5. Install Connect for Lotus Notes on your computer.
                          6. To learn what users can and cannot do with the add-in, see Modifying Registry Entries on page
2 and Restricting Data Movement on page 14.

                          Accessing The Registry Editor

To view all Salesforce registry entries:

                          1. On your Windows desktop, click Start > Run. Alternatively, press the Windows Logo+R
                             keyboard shortcut.
                          2. Type regedit.

                                                                                                        Last updated: July 28, 2012

3. Click OK.
4. The Windows Registry Editor opens.
5. Go to My Computer > HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Salesforce.com > SM.

The contents of the SM folder will display in the right side of the window. Note that some entry
values are generated at runtime. Others are read-only and can't be manually edited.

Caution: Do not manually edit registry entries in the Windows Registry Editor. Instead,
modify your Connect for Lotus Notes dictionary file.

Modifying Registry Entries

To customize the default behavior of Connect for Lotus Notes for your users, follow this procedure:

1. Open your Connect for Lotus Notes dictionary file at C:\Program
Files\Lotus\Notes\L_Dictionary.xml, or wherever Lotus Notes program files exist
   on your computer.
Note that this dictionary file takes precedence over the file with the same name at
   C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application
   Data\salesforce.com\SM.
2. If necessary, change the OverrideOptions attribute to “true.” Note that this setting overrides
the settings in the registry editor.
3. Using the following table for reference, add entries to the OverrideOptions section.
For example, to hide the Salesforce splash page which ordinarily displays when Lotus Notes
   starts, add the line <PutRegistry name="DisplaySplash" type="string"
value="false"/>. Note that the following override settings appear by default:
   CanModifySyncEntities, CanModifySyncDirection,
   CanModifyConflictResolution, CustomTemplateClasses, Sync, Sync Direction,
and Conflict Resolution. AlwaysMarkForSync appears after you enable that option
using the Salesforce.com Options dialog box. Also note that the valid options for type are
“string” and “dword.” A string can have a maximum of 256 characters. A dword can be an
   integer no greater than 0x7FFF.
4. Save your modified dictionary file. To make additional dictionary file changes, see Restricting
   Data Movement on page 14.
5. Using a tool such as Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS), distribute the XML file
to your users in the following directory: C:\Program Files\Lotus\Notes (or wherever
Lotus Notes program files exist on their computers).
6. For your users, Connect for Lotus Notes will operate according to the options you specified.

The table below lists registry entries that can be modified to change the default behavior of Connect
for Lotus Notes.

                                                                                                        2

AttachmentExtensionBlacklist REG_SZ A list of attachment file
                                            extensions that cannot be
                                            uploaded to Salesforce. Use
                                            semicolons to separate values.

AutoLogin REG_SZ The default value “true” enables
                                            automatic login to Salesforce
                                            when Lotus Notes starts. This
                                            automatic login is asynchronous
and silent. If the automatic login
fails, the user will receive a login
prompt upon his or her first
                                            action with Connect for Lotus
                                            Notes. The value “false” disables
                                            the automatic login at Lotus
                                            startup, delaying the login request
until the user’s first action with
                                            Connect for Lotus Notes.

AutoSearchForContactAssociations REG_SZ The default value “true” enables
                                            automatic searching for Salesforce
                                            records when associating contacts.
When a user clicks the Change
                                            Associations button, the search
                                            pre-populates the association if it
                                            finds a single result. This
                                            corresponds to the

                                            search for account and
                                            contact associations
                                            checkbox in the Advanced
                                            Options for Contacts dialog box.
BlindCopyTo REG_SZ If your company uses a custom
                                            Lotus Notes design template, this
entry specifies the name of the
custom field that has taken the
                                            place of the default field
                                            EnterBlindCopyTo. If this
entry is blank, the default field
                                            EnterBlindCopyTo is used.

CaseStatusValues REG_SZ Never manually edit this entry. It
is used internally by the client.

ClientId REG_SZ Never manually edit this entry. It

ContextSensitiveButtons REG_SZ The default value “true” makes
                                     menu commands
                                     context-sensitive, but may impact
                                     performance. The value “false”
                                     makes menu commands always
                                     active; errors occur if
                                     out-of-context actions are
                                     attempted.

CopyTo REG_SZ If your company uses a custom
                                     Lotus Notes design template, this
entry specifies the name of the
custom field that has taken the

                                     blank, the default field

Dictionary REG_SZ The name of the dictionary file.
                                     The default value is

When removing a menu item that
is followed by a separator, we
                             recommend also removing the

                             separators from displaying in
                             succession.

error will occur when users try to
                                    upload attachments that are larger

Security and Connect for Lotus Notes

What connections does Connect for Lotus Notes make with Salesforce?
At appropriate times, Connect for Lotus Notes communicates with Salesforce using SOAP
(Simple Object Access Protocol) over HTTPS (HyperText Transfer Protocol Secure). This
is the only connection it makes to Salesforce.

What security protocols are in place?
Every communication between Connect for Lotus Notes and Salesforce is encrypted using
the encryption level available on the user’s computer. Typically this is 128-bit encryption.
However, if a user has Windows 2000 with no service packs, then the encryption is only 56
bits. While 56 bits is not a recommended level of protection, Connect for Lotus Notes will
still use that encryption level to communicate with Salesforce.
Connect for Lotus Notes also uses the encryption level of the user’s computer for password
     storage.

Setting Up Logging

Where can I find the Lotus Notes 8 trace files?
If you install Lotus Notes 8 for a single user, all trace files will be generated in
data\workspace\logs\ in the Lotus Notes installation directory (by default, C:\Program
Files\IBM\Lotus\Notes). If Lotus Notes 8 is installed for multiple users, these files will
     be in C:\Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Application
     Data\Lotus\Notes\Data\workspace\logs\..

The location of users' trace files is specified in the Lotus Notes Configuration Details dialog
box. In Lotus Notes, click Help > About IBM Lotus Notes > Configuration Details, and
view the file location after the text “-data”.

How can I set logging levels in Lotus Notes 8?
You can set different levels of logging for your users, such as Error, Warning, and Information.
The logging level is determined by the LogMask value data for the registry key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Salesforce.com\SM. The logging feature for the
native code remains unchanged, but for Lotus Notes 8, the LogMask value controls both
native code logging and the eclipse logging level. The flags are:

      enum LoggingMask { lmNone = 0x0000, lmTrace = 0x0001, lmError
      = 0x0002, lmCritical = 0x0004, lmWarning = 0x0008, lmInformation
       = 0x0010, lmSyncProgress = 0x0020, lmHistoryDumps = 0x0040,
      lmAll = 0xFFFF, };

                                                                                                        16
