Adopt an Element Project!
Mr. Lepak’s Class
Hello and Welcome to the Adopt-an- Element agency. Congratulations on adopting your 2 new
elements! Now that you have new elements to take care of, you should probably get to know
them better! Find some information about your elements, then choose 1 element and create a
visual display to show everyone what your element is all about!
To find your information:
a) Use the Internet links from my website:

b) You can also use any of the books that are located in my room.
Your project will be graded based on the following 3 requirements:
1) Complete your Adopt-an-Element Worksheet for BOTH elements.
(30% of your grade)
(PART 1 IS DUE Wednesday, October 19st )
2) Choose 1 of those elements and create a visual display to show the class all of the
1) wonderful things you’ve learned about your new element! Don’t forget to include a
2) catchy slogan! (50% of your grade) Ideas you can make:
3) 1. Poster board display of your element
2. Advertisement for your element, as if you were trying to sell it.
4) 3. Make a poem or rap about your element
5) 4. Draw colorful pictures showing where you can find your element!
5. NO Powerpoints, please.
6) Each visual display needs a slogan!!
For example: “Arsenic’s A sure fire wAy to deAl

with a nasty rat, it works better than a mean
8)
old cAt!”
9) (PART 2 IS DUE Tuesday, October 25th )

3) Once you have completed a visual display, you will be required to stand
up in front of your class and give a 2-minute speech about what you have
learned! (20% of your grade)
(PART 3 will take place on Tuesday, October 25th and
Wednesday October 26th )

4) Chemical Elements

This is where you can find the boiling and melting point.
5) Environmental Chemistry http://environmentalchemistry.com/yogi/periodic/
This is where you can find origin of name, the Bohr diagram, uses of that element, and more.
