                                              Official Contract


This contract renews automatically every two years. If your organization wishes to cancel this contract,
notification must be made in writing to the Public Works Director of the Rapides Parish Police Jury.

Should your organization fail to follow through on the adoption commitments, the Rapides Parish Police Jury
reserves the right to cancel the contract after two years.

       WHEREAS, the Rapides Parish Police Jury and

Recognize the need and desirability of litter free parish roads; and

      WHEREAS, the Rapides Area Planning Commission shall administer the Adopt-A-Road program for the
Rapides Parish Police Jury; and,

        WHEREAS, the Adopt-A-Road program has been established for civic-minded volunteer organizations
to contribute toward the effort of maintaining litter from parish roads and the facilities along parish roads; and,

        WHEREAS, the said organization will clean and maintain the parish road four times per year (once a
quarter) and shall submit in writing to the Public Works Director of the Rapides Parish Police Jury the planned
dates for clean-up activities; and,

       WHEREAS, the children under the age of sixteen that compose a civic organization must be supervised
by one adult for every five children and a volunteer trained in first-aid must be present; and,

       WHEREAS, the Rapides Parish Highway Department is responsible for:
       1) Conducting a safety workshop before clean-up activities,
       2) Providing an orange safety vest to all participants,
       3) Providing warning signs on the day of clean-up,
       4) Developing a permanent sign recognizing the organization adopting the road for clean-up, and
       5) Hauling all trash bags from the clean-up site.

       WHEREAS, ________________________________ agrees to indemnify and hereby holds harmless the

Rapides Parish Police Jury, and its respective agents, officers and employees from and against any and all
liability, loss, damages, interests, judgments, settlements and liens arising out of and incurred in connection
with any and all claims, demands, suits, actions or proceedings which may be brought against the Rapides
Parish Police Jury by reason of or as a result of:
       1) the lack of exercise of employees or the lace of reasonable care in the supervision of the employees,
           or
       2) the negligent or willful act of omission of the Rapides Parish Police Jury, its agents, officers,
           employees or directors; and

       FURTHERMORE, the adopting organization accepts these responsibilities for a two year period
