Current Fire Situation: A Mandatory evacuation is in place for the Hidden Valley Road. Due to dry conditions and
gusty winds, fire behavior continues to be active, specifically on the Miners, Lime, and Yellow Fires. Firefighters
contained spot fires south of Hayfork Bally Lookout but other spots on the south sides of Miners and Lime caused
firefighters to pull back and begin to reinforce contingency lines. A heavy smoke inversion kept aircraft on the ground for
much of the day. The Hyampom Road remains CLOSED to the public due to fire activity; call 1-877-492-6766 for
road status.
Today’s Objectives: Protection of communities, private lands, and infrastructure including roads, utilities and
communication towers continues throughout the Lime Complex. Miners Fire: Firefighters continue to hold the fire
below/north of Hyampom Road. A secondary containment line will be established to south and east of Little Creek to
contain spot fires in the drainage. Suppression forces from the Eagle fire will work to complete a fireline between the
Eagle and Miners Fires. Lime Fire: Work continues to reinforce South Mountain Road between 1N24 and the dozer line
south of Lemonade Springs. Back up contingency lines will be identified off the southeast corner to contain spread to
the east. Yellow Fire: Reinforcement of forest road 27N02 along the wilderness boundary will continue as well as
construction of fireline to the south to prevent spread to the west. Suppression work continues on a small section of the
southwest corner. Vinegar Fire: With the northern perimeter controlled work continues on the east flank to prevent
spread out of the wilderness.
Individual Fire Sizes and Containment: The Lime Complex consists of 11 uncontained fires and 18 contained fires.
Individual fire acreage and containment follows: Miners: 18,697 acres, 55% contained; Lime 15,904 acres, 50%
contained; Yellow: 20,894 acres, no estimate of containment; Vinegar 31,912 acres (Mendocino NF – 13,111 acres,
Shasta Trinity NF – 18,797 acres) 30% contained; Noble: 12,870 acres (Shasta Trinity NF – 5,245 acres, Calfire --
7,625) 100% contained on Shasta Trinity; Trough: 3,690 acres, 100% contained; Telephone: 6,569 acres, 100%
contained; Deadshot: 1,070 acres, 100% contained; Slide: 1,547 acres, 100% contained; Deerlick: 11,022 acres,
(Shasta Trinity NF – 797 acres, Calfire 10,225), 100% contained Grouse, 1,440 acres, no estimate of containment.
Structures and Resources Threatened: Approximately 1,530 residences, 25 commercial properties and 309
outbuildings; includes ranches, camps, and private lands around Hyampom, Indian Valley, Hayfork, Hayfork Bally
Lookout, Wildwood, Buck Camp, Saddle Camp, South Mountain Road, Hidden Valley Ranch Road, Friend Mountain,
and Henthorne Lake. Also communications towers, Tomhead Lookout, and cultural sites south of the Yellow fire in the
Yolla Bolly Wilderness remain threatened.
Area Closures: Call Caltrans 1-800-427-7623 for information about state highways, particularly Hwy 299. Within the
South Fork Management Unit (Hayfork and Yolla Bolly) of the Shasta-Trinity National Forest, all Forest Service roads
and trails are closed except Forest Road , No.2N07 (Post Road), No. 2N10 (Indian Valley Road), No. 1S14 (Flume
Gulch Road). Forest Road 60 from Hyampom to Burnt Ranch is closed. The closure does not include state and county
roads or private lands. The Yolla-Bolly Wilderness is also closed to public use to provide for public safety and facilitate
fire fighting efforts. ADVISORY: Please be aware that while driving in the complex area, you may encounter firefighters
working on or near roadways. Please be careful.
