The WSC Education Opportunity Trust is an independent charity that was founded in 2009 following a
donation from a former student of West Suffolk College. The Trust makes financial grants to students and
former students who are studying, or have studied, at West Suffolk College and/or UCS Bury St Edmunds
to assist such persons to enhance their educational experience and its application to the outside world.
The Trust hopes these grants will help recipients to maximise the contribution they may make to society
throughout their lives.

The basic criteria for gaining support from the Trust will be whether the applicant will gain educational
benefit in the widest sense. The Trustees also expect applicants to demonstrate how, if a grant is made to
them, they will share their experiences of ways in which the grant benefitted them.

Applicants are invited to complete an application form and those selected are invited to attend an informal
meeting with the Trustees where they will have the opportunity of presenting their reasons for making the
application in more detail and answering any questions that the Trustees may have.

Grants from the Trust will normally not be made in cases where funds can be accessed from other sources
such as maintenance grants, access funds or state benefits.

In its first year the Trust has made grants to assist: -

 two students with foreign study trips
 two students in gaining unique work experience in London
 a talented student with travelling expenses to enable him to continue to train at specialist facilities in
pursuit of his ambition to represent Great Britain at the 2012 Olympics

Currently the income of the Trust is below the threshold for registration with the Charity Commission. The
Trust is entirely dependent upon donations. If you would like to make a donation please complete the slip
below and send it with your cheque (made payable to “WSC Education Opportunity Trust”) to David Kent,
Clerk to the Trustees at 1, Rose Cottage, Walcot Green, Diss, Norfolk IP22 5ST. For further information or
