Winn Dixie
The Coordinator Contest sponsored by Winn Dixie has been extended through February 28th, 2005! Our
school needs 253 additional supporters to register their Rewards Cards.
If you are a Winn Dixie shopper, please stop by their Customer Service Counter to register yourself and
your school.

Safety Reminder,
Please use extra caution when dropping off your children along Celebration Avenue. Drivers have been
seen pulling up to the curb, dropping off their child, and then not looking back to see if the road is clear
before entering traffic. There have been several near traffic accidents as a result. I recommend parents
use the drop off areas located along Campus Street for this reason. Also remember to obey all posted
traffic control devices around the school and community. Some drivers have been seen parking in No
Parking areas as well as continuing to use Mulberry Street as a pick up/drop off area. This area is to
remain open for traffic flow both ways without vehicles obstructing the traffic flow.

                                          teachers.

Commissioner Winn Highlights Student Success in 2004
Tallahassee- Education Commissioner John Winn today announced the creation of the 2004 Year in
Review webpage on the Florida Department of Education’s website, www.fldoe.org. The website
highlights some of the accomplishments of Florida’s students in 2004.
“Under the leadership of Governor Bush and his A+ Plan, Florida’s focus on reading and
accountability is paying tremendous dividends and our students are making great strides,” Education
Commissioner Winn said. “If we continue to work towards ending social promotion, meeting Florida’s
need for quality teachers and ensuring every child can read, we should have an even better 2005.”
Highlights from the Year in Review webpage include the Education Trust report, in which
Florida’s students were found to be leading the nation in reading gains, as well as the FCAT results,
which showed more than half of all students in 3rd through 10th grade reading at or above grade level for
the first time in the state’s history.
“Florida’s students are leading the nation in rising student achievement,” State Board of
Education Chairman Phil Handy said. “With the implementation of a high quality pre-kindergarten
program, we will be offering more students than ever the tools they need to realize their potential.”
The webpage features facts and reports pertaining to every level of Florida’s seamless K-20
system, including formation about graduation rates at Florida’s High Schools and Colleges.
