Guidelines to Register for the GED Exam
Indian River State College
Bring the following items to the Adult Education Department located on the Main
Campus in Fort Pierce (C-110 in the Tomeu Center):
Valid Identification for Test Takers
a) Valid Florida Driver’s License, valid passport, military IDs, or other forms of government-
issued (National or Foreign) identification that show name, address, date of birth, signature,
b) Driver’s license does not have to be a Florida Driver’s License
Social Security Card
First name, middle initial and last name on Social Security Card and picture ID must match. If
names do not match on both forms, proper documentation must accompany the GED test
application form at the time of registration (i.e. marriage license, divorce decree, etc.).
All applicants under the age of 18 must provide an age waiver issued by the Office of the
Superintendent of Schools of their resident county.
Students under the age of 16 cannot take the exam.
Test Scores from previous GED Test
If the test was taken in Florida, but not at IRSC, a copy of the scores will be sufficient. If the
test was taken in another state, the student must bring in the original test scores at the time of
completing the GED test application form. If there is a change of name since testing, proper
documentation must accompany the GED test application form at the time of registration (i.e.
marriage license, divorce decree, etc.).
Test Fee Payment – Non-Refundable, Non-Transferable
Payment can be made by cash, money order, check or credit card. For the Full Test Battery the
fee is $56.00. The Language Arts Writing, Social Studies, Science, Language Arts Reading,
and Mathematics retests are $12.00 each.
Referral Forms are issued to those GED students who have successfully completed all
requirements and have been recommended to take the GED Exam.
How to Register
1. Bring the items listed above to the Tomeu Center (C-110).
2. Complete the GED application form and Demographics brochure if testing for the first time. Students
testing for the second time or more must complete the retest application in the Tomeu Center (C-110).
3. Pay the test fee at the Cashier’s Office at Crews Hall (W-190).
4. Return validated receipt & application to the Tomeu Center (C-110).
5. Complete the test answer sheets at the Tomeu Center (C-110).
6. Obtain written validation of the date, time, and location of the test from the Tomeu Center (C-110).
Bring picture identification (same as you used to register for the exam) and the validated white cashier
receipt to the test room. Arrive on time or you will not be permitted to take the test.
