The Creative Lewisham Agency web site is for professional artists and creative people both in
the borough and outside. We aim to keep you up to date with current and potential projects
and how you can get involved with the cultural revolution taking place in Lewisham!

Rushey Green Mural
The old Prendergast School site has long been disguised by green boards, but keen to
update Rushey Green’s look, the Rushey Green Improvement Group approached Lewisham
Regeneration for assistance in developing a community mural for the site.
To support local residents in taking an active role to improve their area, Lewisham agreed to
make a contribution and to co-ordinate the project. The mural was also funded by the
Lewisham Primary Care Trust, (LPCT) and the Creative Lewisham Agency.
Local Artist Karen Sullivan King was appointed to undertake six workshops within the local
community, working with children from Rushey Green Primary School, young local graffiti
artists, occupational therapists and children using the Priory Manor Clinic.
The site which is owned by LPCT, will be redeveloped into a Children’s and Young Person
Centre. A separate building at the rear will house the Rushey Green Group Practice. Once
the site has been redeveloped, some of the mural panels may be incorporated within the new
FOCUS ON - Web Radio
Smart City™ is a weekly, hour-long public radio talk show that takes an in-depth look at urban
life, the people, places, ideas and trends shaping cities. Listen to live shows on Sundays and
Tuesdays or access archived shows from the web site.
Creative Lewisham features – listen to Andrew Carmichael, Director of the Creative
Lewisham Agency speak about Creativity and Place-Making. Charles Landry, author of the
Lewisham Culture and Urban Development Commission talks about The Creative City, while
Richard Florida, Carnegie Mellon University professor and author of “The Rise of the Creative
Class” talks about the emerging creative class in America.

The Wellcome Trust has announced a new £1m award scheme to support and encourage
innovative arts projects that investigate biomedical science.
Sciart forms part of the Wellcome Trust's Engaging Science grants program and is an
amalgamation of two previous funding schemes: Science on Stage and Screen and the
consortium-funded Sciart scheme.

Can you capture a vision of science? An image that is beautiful, surprising or thought
provoking that challenges the way we look at the world?
The Novartis and Daily Telegraph Visions of Science Photographic awards have prizes in
nine categories ranging from 400 to 1000 UK Pounds.

Creative Sector Forum
There will be a meeting of the Creative Sector Forum on Wednesday 26 February from 2 –

to play a more strategic role.
