Isuzu carry more and cost less to run

The proven economics of running a fleet of new Isuzu 7.5 tonne trucks
convinced Hull company Burflex Scaffolding Ltd to invest in new 7.5t
Isuzu vehicles to replace some of its older fleet of non Isuzu trucks.

Five brand new Isuzu NQR 7.5 tonne rigids have joined the 10 strong
Burflex fleet, working on its company’s scaffolding business covering the
whole of Yorkshire. Fitted with 22ft dropside bodies, the Isuzu’s offer
Burflex significant payload advantages, combined with much lower
lifetime running costs.

With its previous 7.5t vehicles, Burflex had experienced continual
problems with both payload and running cost issues. The final decision
by Burflex, to switch to specifying Isuzu for the first time, came following
a detailed vehicle acquisition programme, working closely with Isuzu
dealer Protruck Commercial Services in Darlington.

“With the types of scaffolding loads we were carrying on our previous
7.5t vehicles, we faced a constant battle to avoid overloading. Isuzu
solved this problem. Overloading worries are now no longer an issue as
the Isuzu’s give us an extra 1 tonne payload in comparison with their
predecessors,” said Steve Cox from Burflex.

Spiralling maintenance costs were also an issue with Burflex’s previous
7.5 tonners. With a three-year unlimited mileage warranty, the 5 new
Isuzu’s in the Burflex transport fleet were the answer to this particular
problem too. As Steve Cox says, “New vehicles are cheaper to run than
the used ones, and the reliability and low running costs of the Isuzu’s will
make significant savings in the overall costs of running our transport
fleet over the next few years.”

“Without doubt, the Isuzu marque has a proven pedigree of providing
tough reliable vehicles for the building industry, with industry-leading
payload potential. As a new customer to the Isuzu range, Burflex were
obviously impressed by these particular strengths, and like many other
companies in the building and construction industry, they see Isuzu as a
valuable partner in providing reliable transport solutions,” said Keith
Child, Marketing Director, Isuzu Truck (UK) Limited.
