BITS & PIECES FROM AROUND MT. CALVARY:
STUDENT AID: Last month our Bd. of Education granted $4,800. from the Elinor Kyte Educational
/Scholarship Fund to 8 of our members. Monies were allotted to 7 families with students at our
Elementary School and 1 family with a child at Arizona Lutheran Academy, Phoenix. Usually those
further along in their Christian education receive a greater % of the monies, but this year “a family’s need”
was taken into consideration and the largest gift went to a grade school family. We thank the Lord for
Elinor’s generous gift. While she is now enjoying the presence of being with her Savior, we’re enjoying
her presents which further Christian education until our Savior returns.

SCHOOL NEWS:
Our sc Our theme this year centers around the encouraging words of the Psalmist 119:18:
“O Lord, open my eyes so that I may see wonderful things in your Word. ”
May the Lord use our school, our Sunday School, our Teens class and all Adult Classes to
discover, behold and believe “God’s sacred and saving secrets” contained in His Word.

Our school year began with 34 youngsters ready for action. You can get the break down by classrooms
from Principal Mueller. Add about 16 pre-schoolers to that number and you have “lots of action”!!
Pre-School - Mrs. Hannah Mueller, Mrs. Priscilla Sneezy,
                                             James Mueller, Brittany Morales
                            Begindergarten/Kindergarten – Mrs. Jill Williams (11)
                            Grades 1-4 – Miss Joelle Tjernagel (13)
Grades 5-7 (no 8th Graders) – Mr. Kurt Mueller (10)
Please keep our school, faculty and students in your prayers. If you’re able to, please join us for our
“Chapel Chats” each Friday at 8:15 AM. Parents, grandparents and friends are all welcome!

September 21st - CHRISTIAN EDUCATION SUNDAY,
                       ALL CHILDREN SING @ 9:00 AM !!
May the words of the Psalmist 139: 23-24 always ring true in our hearts and homes:
Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts
See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me and my children in the way everlasting. !!
                                                        1
(Bits & Pieces from around Mt. Calvary continued….)

LACE approved our loan of $750,000 for the new chapel. To borrow
this amount members & friends of Mt. Calvary will need to INVEST - not
give – but invest $375,000. with LACE. This can be done in the form of
IRA’s, TSA’s and/or dollar amounts as minimal as $250. The investor
chooses an interest rate from 0-5%. For example, if the mean of all investors
is 4%, our payment back to LACE will be 5%. We’re still looking for more investors in the weeks/months
to come. You’ll find the necessary forms on the table in back of church. Help yourself, or ask Pastor or
    Keith Moore for help.

Choir has already started up this Fall. Would love to have you join us on 2
Wednesdays/month @ 6:30 PM. Our next practice is on the 24th. This year
Joelle will be introducing the new hymnal supplement to the choir, so we in
turn can teach some of the songs to the congregation. All voices are needed
and welcome. NO previous experience is necessary. It’s fun for teens and
adults alike “to sing praises to the Lord!”

We’d love to have you join us !! Those who play an instrument also add
                                much to our choir.

COLLEGE STUDENTS ! Sharon Wollenzien meets with all

for the announcements at the end of our service.

BITS & PIECES FROM AROUND THE WELS:
(From now on, we’ll be communicating this information
through President Schroeder’s bi-weekly bulletin insert.)

The world-wide gospel work that we could not do separately,
we are able to do together with our brothers and sisters in Christ around the
world. Together we send and support missionaries in 24 foreign lands;
together we open and support mission congregations throughout the U.S;
together we maintain a worker-training system where young men and
women are in training to bring the gospel to the next generation; together we
can produce Christ-centered materials and hymnals for young and old alike.
Together we can help people in need around the world. Last year our people
gave $750,000. to aid victims of disasters. May we recognize the wonderful
blessings and privileges we have in being members of the WELS !
And continually give thanks to God for our spiritual mother !!

The New Chapel !! “Praise the Lord and sing His praise” is what we did
on September 7, as we broke ground for our new chapel. This day was 10 years
in the making and planning; many hours have been invested by Ron Boyer, the
chairman of our Building Committee; by Keith & Debbie Moore, Dave
Williams, Charlotte Schmidt and Betty Riepe. Keith Moore will serve as the
General Contractor of this project; bids are coming in and when the permits by
the city are received, the landscape at 2605 N. Fort Valley will begin to
change and a building where God’s people will gather for worship will begin to
take shape. To God alone be the glory !!
