We’ve had more than 12 games.
We’ve also had great success with players selected for representative teams:
County: 13 x U15s & 1 x U18. Region: 4 x U15s.
1 x U15 has been selected from region to join Schools of rugby and 1 x U15 has got through HPA to trial

All girls have progressed and improved in all areas.
Many thanks go to the parents for supporting in force at all events.
Summer events: Training sessions at Shoreham RFC for 6 wks from 5 Aug 7- 8pm.
First training back for South Sussex Barbarians is on Thursday 28 Aug (early as early County trials)
Communication policy email/website: Please check emails regularly & reply promptly to make it easier for
If you have problems with email or change email address or phone numbers please let Claire know.
Availability – if you’ve said you’re available please make every effort to be there – otherwise you’re letting
the team down. 24 – 48 hrs notice would be nice.
Fixture list is updated regularly on website – please check frequently. It also will have important news
about times, venues and forms.
Change of age groups for next season: Some girls change age groups next season:
Louise, Natasha and Heather move up to U15s.
Georgey, Molly and Yas move upto U18s.
Numbers will be: 4/5 x U12, 17/18 x U15 and 5/6 x U18
Cluster fees: Would like to introduce £5 per family in addition to club fees. The money will be souly for
the use of the Barbarians. It’s not much but will really help to pay for incidentals/ trophies etc.
Funding: Forms are nearly completed to apply for “Awards for All” funding from the lottery. Lewes RFC
will hold any monies for us. In the meantime we are looking for sponsorship – for any amounts ie: £50 per
year to pay for website.
Does anyone have any connections to companies or individuals who might help?
Mick said he might ask his boss.
Working with H3 for U12s and U18s: We have joined 2 leagues: SE and Sussex/Kent.
We are working with H3 (Hellingly, Heathfield and Hastings) to join forces at U12s and U18s.
Both clubs will have Individual U15 teams.
Joint training: 1 x Thurs per month all of us to Hellingly then next month they all come to Lewes. Plus
another Thursday a month that just U18s can go there.
We hope to arrange joint training/games for U12s.
We need help with transport occasionally. Lets all work together – lift sharing etc.
We hope that the arrangement with H3 will only need to be for this coming season.
Training: To make it easier for U12s we are considering having all round training for the first hour for all
ages. The U12s may then finish.
Then from 8.15, the U15s train in one group and the U18s train with Lewes women. (Arrange: Action MT)
CLAIRE WILL EMAIL ALL TO CONFIRM.
Lewes RFC have 3 New Zealanders coming over – part of arrangement is that they can help coach. We
hope to take advantage of their expertise. (Arrange – Action PD )
We need to talk to plan ahead re: drills etc (Action MT & AD)
Next training session is Thursday 28 August at Lewes RFC 7 – 9pm.
We need to work on Kicking skills. We hope to use the experience of senior players.
End of season tour & funding: hope to tour with H3 at end of season taking all age groups. Tour dates and
venue to be arranged.
Fundraising: fun-run/walk with H3 on 10 Aug. We need everyone to take part in fundraising throughout
the year. The more we raise, the less we as parents will have to pay.
Any other ideas? New Years day swim? Wax the hairy man? Ideas other than sponsored? Competition?
County Trials: On Sunday 7 September at Horsham 1 – 4.30pm. We want all U15s and U18s to go. It is
run as a training session. It’s not scary. We can work together to arrange lifts etc.
Consent Form can be printed from our Website.
Plans for girls not in the County squad: We plan to work with other clubs in the county – central training
/friendly games. This will be a good opportunity for U12s too.
Reporters - U15 & U18: We have one volunteer per age group so far. Zoe (U12s), Mazzy ( U5s) and Georgey
(U18s). Thank you!
Coaches & Referees: Currently we have 2 coaches: Mike on Thursdays and Sundays, Angus on Sundays.
Obviously with 3 age groups we need more coaches.
We would like to have a bank of coaches so they don’t have to commit regularly if unable to. Training will
be reimbursed. U18s will be eased by H3 coaches but it would be nice to have our own.
Also we need a ref. Again – training will be reimbursed.
Mark Roe, Chris Bird and Mick Kirby all volunteered to be assistant coaches. They offered to do the Level
1 Coaching course. Thank you!
All will need to be CRB checked. (Forms – Action – CB)
Paddy asked if Lewes could host a coaching course – he suggested it would be easier to get volunteers.
