CONNECTICUT STATE PHYSICAL FITNESS ASSESSMENT There are four compenents to the Connecticut State Physical Fitness Assessment. Each test assesses a different area of fitness. 1. Modified sit and reach: the objective for this test is to measure flexibility of the lower back and hamstrings. 2. Partial Curl-ups: the partial curl-up measures abdominal strength and endurance. *This strength is important to good health because low levels are associated with bad posture and lower back pain in later years. 3. Right-Angle Push-Ups: The objective of this test is to measure upper-body strength and endurance. 4. 20 Meter Pacer Test: The objective for the test is to measure cardio respiratory or aerobic endurance. *The importance of cardio respiratory fitness lies in the fact that heart disease is a leading cause of death in our society.
