                Vacancy for Finance Officer
HelpAge International is a global network striving for the rights of disadvantaged older
people to economic and physical security; healthcare and social services; and support in
their care giving role across the generations. Based in Dar Es Salaam and we have a
branch in Mwanza and we are working with partners across the country.

We are seeking qualified candidate for the post of Finance Officer URGENTYL, to work
in our Dar es Salaam , Tanzania office. In this senior position, reporting to the Finance
Manager, the Finance Officer will be responsible for a full range of financial and
accounting functions. Below are the competencies we require and the duties and
responsibilities the position holder will have.
Core Competencies
     Degree or Advanced Diploma in Accounting/Finance ; minimum 3-5 years
        experience required, preferably in a similar environment
     Strong knowledge and practice experience of all levels of accounting and
        financial functions, including: day to day transactions; maintaining & updating all
        accounts regularly; developing & monitoring overall and project budgets;
        maintaining & strengthening financial control systems; and
        preparation/submission of all statutory returns
     Knowledge and Experience on partner (grants) finance management.
     Good knowledge, understanding and hands-on experience of project accounting,
        donor reporting, and managing multi-donor funded projects
     Excellent computer skills (MS Excel, MS Word, Access) with Advanced MS Excel
        skills, and be specially competent in using IT for accounting, financial analyses
        and communication purposes.

Associated competencies
    Good experience of financial and management accounting
    Ability and knowledge to develop and strengthen the organisation’s financial
       systems and procedures
    Ability to provide advice and guidance, and where necessary training to staff and
       partners, to enhance their financial competency and performance
    A good understanding and working knowledge of Tanzania’s taxation legislation
       and procedures.
    Excellent written and verbal communications skills in both English and Kiswahili.
    Excellent IT skills
Duties and Responsibilities.
The Finance Officer will have the following among other duties and responsibilities
    Monitor all Programme costs on a monthly basis, ensuring all expenditures,
       advances and floats are accurately recorded and accounted for and spent within
       budget limits.
    Prepare monthly accounts and other financial reports for submission to Head
       Office, including fully reconciled reports of income, expenditure and cash and
       bank reconciliation
    Review partner organization accounts on monthly basis. Prepare donor reports.
    Ensure compliance to donor requirements in all financial transactions.
