Course Description: Students will investigate the basic principles of
environmental science including habitats, changes to the environment, the
impact of man, environmental impacts on health. Students will use scientific
skills to investigate environmental content including research, analysis of real-life
data, and experiments.

Assessment of student progress is as follows: Percentage of Term Grade

Final grade for the year will be based on: Percentage of Final Grade
Average of (4) term grades 80%
Final Exam/Project/Portfolio 20%
Both teacher-directed and student-directed strategies will be used throughout the year. The strategies
what will be employed include but are not limited to: lecture, group work, guided inquiry, simulations,
technology infused hands-on projects/activities, and independent research.

Coming into Class
Students will come into class quietly, take out homework to be checked, and work on the
If students arrive late to class, they will not get points for the Admit Slip and may be
written up in APWeb.
All late students must sign the tardy sheet whether or not they have a note.
Behavior During Class
Class should follow the policy that “One person speaks out a time.”
Class should follow the General Guidelines of:
o Respect yourself o Respect others. o Work hard.
Students should not touch any lab equipment or materials until instructed to do so.
Leaving the Room During Class
o Students will not be able to use the bathroom during Block A/B unless it is an
emergency. In that case, students will need to sign out and take a pass.
Assignments should be presented for the teacher on the day it is due for full credit.
Late homework assignments will not be accepted unless you have an excused absence
Missed Assessments / Labs
Assessments must be taken within one week of the return to school only after an excused
absence. See me to arrange a time.
You may complete a lab if it’s still set up. If not, you must get data from another student.
The End of Class
Students will complete the Exit Slip and record the homework assignments for the night.
Students will return all classroom materials and pack up their own materials.
Students will wait to leave until the teacher has dismissed them.
