Pacific Broadband Forum 2012

The Pacific Broadband Forum 2012 is scheduled to be held at the Sheraton Fiji Resort Hotel,
Denarau, Nadi, Fiji from 26-28 July 2012. The Forum will be hosted by the Ministry of Public
Enterprises, Communications, Civil Aviation & Tourism, Republic of Fiji, and jointly organized by
the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the Commonwealth Telecommunications
Organisation (CTO) with supports from the Department of Broadband, Communications, and the
Digital Economy (DBCDE), Australian Government, the Pacific Islands Telecommunications
Association (PITA), and the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC).

This meeting will be held in back to back with the 5th APT Policy and Regulation Forum for Pacific
(PRF-P) that will be held from 23-25 July 2012 at the same venue.

Country Members and individuals who wish to participate in the workshop should complete and
submit registration form as provided by the event organisers. The form can also be downloaded at:
PITA Members are to register using online form available at www.pita.org.fj under the event name.
Other organisations and individuals with interests and role in the above forum but having not
received any invitation should write to the respective Event Contact focal points as provided in the
latter Sections of this Participant Information.
A registration desk for participants will be set up outside the conference room. Registration for the
Forum commences at 08:30 a.m. on Thursday 26th July 2012. The Forum is open to governments,
industry, international organisations and relevant stakeholders in ICT development. The Forum is
free of charge.
4. Hotel Accommodation
All participants are required to book directly with the hotels. We recommend participants to stay at
the Sheraton Fiji Resort, which is the venue, or alternately at its sister hotel at the Westin Denarau
Island hotel that is located just next to the Sheraton Hotel.

5. Transfer from Nadi International Airport to Denarau Island
A taxi service is available with costs of approximately F$30-40 one way to Denarau Island.
6. Visa and Immigration Requirements
All travelers to Fiji must have a valid passport for at least three (3) months beyond the intended
length of stay in Fiji and a ticket for return or onward travel to another country to which he/she is
authorized to enter. Citizens of most Pacific Islands countries are exempt an entry visa.
Please check with your travel agents the appropriate visas and documentation necessary for your
entry into Fiji.
The responsible authority on entry requirements and issuing permits into Fiji is the Department
of Immigration http://www.immigration.gov.fj/.
Participants who require a visa should apply for a visa at a Fiji consulate or diplomatic mission in

7. Attendance Form
Please send the attached duly completed attendance form to the ITU Secretariat through e-mail

your hotel reservation and other arrangements.
8. Meeting Website
Electronic copies of meeting documents will be available on the Internet. Participants are
encouraged to bring their laptop computers. Computers, printers and Internet Access will be

9. Departure Tax
A Departure Tax of F$20 is payable at Nadi Airport on departure. Most airlines include the
Departure Tax in their ticket prices.
Smart casual business attire, Island Shirts are encouraged.
Electricity voltage is 230/240 volts with pin configuration similar to Australia and
New Zealand. You are advised to take along your universal adaptor if you are from
the USA, Japan or any other country with a dissimilar pin configuration and voltages.
The local currency is Fiji Dollars. International Banks operating in Nadi include ANZ and Westpac.
The Exchange rate is approximately F$1.00= US$0.5572 (US$1.00=F$1.84). Major Credit Cards
are accepted at most hotels, other major outlets and ATMs.

Fiji is approximately 18 degrees South latitude of the equator and has a warm and tropical climate.
The average daytime temperature during the cool season (July) is 15-25 degrees Celsius. Summer
clothing with a light jacket is recommended for during the day but it can get cool at night.
