NEW JERSEY DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP), Division of
Engineering and Construction located in Trenton, NJ is seeking applicants for several
vacant Engineering Trainee positions. The duties for this position include dam failure /
flood modeling, plan review (including hydrologic, hydraulic, geotechnical and structural
dam design), inspection of dams (safety, construction and emergency inspections) and
emergency response in coordination with the NJ State Police and Federal Emergency
Management Agency (FEMA). All work performed while with the Division is accepted
as experience toward your Professional Engineer registration.

The starting salary for this position is $40,129.16 based upon the compensation schedule
issued by the Department of Personnel. If your performance is satisfactory, your salary
will be increased to $42,844.83 after six (6) months.
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a field related to civil
engineering from an accredited college or university having a curriculum approved by the
Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
NOTE: Degree requirement should be met as of December 31, 2002. May 2003
