Poetry Anthology: create an anthology of your poems

Throughout the poetry unit you have been given lots of time to actually WRITE poetry. You have also saved the drafts of each poem as well as my comments upon them.

Your final task now is to create an anthology of your work. You should be redrafting the poems and thinking about developing/amending aspects as necessary. Your poems
should illustrate a variety of topics and forms.

What you will do to compile your anthology is the following:

1. Gather together your poems.
2. Decide on a title for your anthology and produce a contents page.
3. Write an introduction to your anthology (approx. 2 parapgraphs). This will include a consideration of the following:
 Your attitude to poetry. How did you feel about reading and writing poetry prior to this unit and have your feelings about it now changed at all? What do you think
that the value of poetry is? Is it meaningful for you? Did any of the poems that we read inspire you in any way? If so, explain why.
 How you have approached the process of writing and drafting your poems. What did you find difficult about the process (if anything)? Was there anything that
you found came very naturally to you? Was it easier to write in your own voice or did you prefer to create speakers that were somewhat distanced from you,
personally? Have you surprised yourself as a writer, at all?
 Final considerations. Is there anything in particular that you would like me to consider/notice about your work?

4. Now put it all together: you need front and back pages, the introduction, the table of contents page, and the poems (remember you must title each poem and label its
poetic device underneath). Remember that part of the assessment is about the presentation of your anthology.

You should submit the Anthology to Miss Polizzi by April 4.
