HEY WAKEFIELD!! THE FOOD BANK NEEDS RESTOCKING SO EVERYONE CAN HAVE A HEALTHY,
HAPPY CHRISTMAS!! HELP JESSICA MONTANO ON HER SENIOR PROJECT, FEED THE COMMUNITY
AND WIN A PIZZA PARTY TOO!! Today is the last day to Participate in a canned food competition.
Bring your cans…..cans only…..to your third period class. The class that collects the most cans will
have a welcome back pizza party in the first week of January. IT’S TIME TO STEP UP YOUR GAME,
3RD PERIOD CLASSES! Teachers please bring your donated canned food to Ms. Labella’s office in
the Senior Suite. Feed your community and help Jessica Montano with an outstanding Senior
Project. Jessica thanks everyone who has already made a contribution.


Are you doing a science fair project? Would you be interested in presenting your project to other
students from around Virginia? Want to spend 3 days at a slightly nerdy but totally awesome science
event? Any student interested in submitting a paper for Virginia Junior Academy of Sciences or V J A
S needs to see Ms. Baker in room 131 as soon as possible. Turn in a check for $10.00 today so you
can submit a paper. This year the conference is at Norfolk State University. Ask Ms. Baker for info
or as your science teacher for a flyer.


Attention Fluent Speakers of Spanish Not Currently Enrolled in a Spanish Class And Who Have Not
Taken the Placement Test Yet? Would you like to take Spanish next school year? The Spanish for
Fluent Speakers Placement Exam for the next school year, 2012-2013, will be administered, January
26, 30, 31 at 8:30 A.M in room 110. The SFS placement test will help us determine what level to
schedule you in. Please, see Señor Contreras in room 246 ASAP to register. This exam is only for
fluent speakers of Spanish who are not currently enrolled in a Spanish class.



Wanna buy a yearbook but don’t have the full amount? Well listen up Wakefield, $20 Wednesday will
be starting December 21st , where you can pay $20 every Wednesday until you pay off the full
amount of the book. For more details see Ms. Buchanan in room 240. Go and put down $20 NOW!


Juniors or sophomores interested in taking the May 2012 SAT test. The Office of Minority
Achievement is sponsoring an SAT Prep Class. Interested students need to register now. Space is
limited for the first 80 students who register. The class begins Saturday, Feb 11 and runs every
Saturday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm and will be held at Washington-Lee High School. Cost is $150;
$80 if you receive free or reduced lunch. See Mr. Beitler or your counselor to get a registration form.
Do this before the Holiday Break!
ATTENTION ALL INTERACT CLUB MEMBERS.....there is an URGENT need for help in the community
this weekend as the result of a house fire. Please see Ms. Labella if you are available for a few hours
on Saturday morning to help some of our community neighbors in need.


The 4 finalists for the Arlington County Vehicle Decal competition are all Wakefield Photo students!
That means for a 3rd year in a row, a Wakefield student will win the contest! The winner of the
contest will have their artwork displayed on over 155,000 vehicles registered in Arlington County.
The finalists are (in no particular order), Sarah Peterson, Jeppe Callander, Amanda Smith and Maya
Giacobbe. Please go to www.arlingtonva.us to cast your vote. Every resident gets one vote. Please
congratulate these students and vote for your favorite!


Congratulations to the following Wakefield Entrepreneurs for competing in the third annual Winter
Business Plan Competition winning cash prizes and going on to the DC Regional Competition: coming
in 1st place: Layla Amarir, 2nd Place: Alex Gilmore, 3rd Place Mariana Langenbeck.
