CAFETERIA MANAGERS AND FOOD SERVICE WORKERS
All Cafeteria Managers/Food Service Workers at Network schools are eligible to receive compensation
for Network-related duties in the event they perform duties outside of their regular work hours.
Funds for Cafeteria Manager/Food Service Worker compensation were allotted in overtime and/or
additional time pay in the award budget. When applying for an award, the Cafeteria Manager/Food
Service Worker should have been consulted to determine if the cafeteria compensation portion of the
award budget should be designated in overtime or additional time pay, depending upon the number of
scheduled work hours for the Cafeteria Manager/Food Service Worker during their normal work day.
Cafeteria Managers/Food Service Workers who are assigned to work 8 hours daily, will be paid
for overtime. Overtime rate of pay for Network duties shall be paid at the rate pursuant to
Federal and State law, and the employee’s Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Cafeteria Managers/Food Service Workers who are assigned to work 6.5 hours daily will be
paid as follows:
1. Pay continues at the regular rate for any time leading up to a “complete” 8 hour day.
2. Any additional time beyond a “complete” 8 hour day will be paid as overtime.
Example: If a 6.5 hour worker worked an extra two hours beyond their assigned time, then they
would be paid 1.5 hours at their regular rate, and .5 hours at their overtime rate.
Funds can be divided between additional time and overtime to accommodate compensation for both
full-time employees (8 hours) and part-time employee (less than 8 hours), as required.
All cafeteria personnel are expected to complete their regularly assigned cafeteria duties on a daily
basis. Completion of regularly assigned cafeteria duties takes precedence over Network duties.
Please Note: The amount of cafeteria personnel compensation within a school’s Network budget does
not represent a flat rate of pay or guaranteed amount of compensation. Cafeteria personnel will receive
like pay for like work based on current overtime and/or additional time rates of pay. All monies not used
at the end of the funding year for Cafeteria Personnel compensation will be returned to the Network
AWARD BUDGET AND FOOD SERVICE WORKER FUNDING:
Network funding is available between October 1, 2011 and June 25, 2012.
The amount budgeted for Cafeteria Personnel compensation is based on the estimated amount of
overtime/additional time that will be required to complete Network duties. The maximum amount
of Cafeteria Personnel compensation allotted in each type of award is as follows:
Award Cafeteria Compensation Budget
Network Award with 10 or more Participants
(with or without any other awards) $250
