[(x-2)^2-(-2)^2]+[(y+3)^2-(3)^2] = 3468

[(x-2)^2-4]+[(y+3)^2-9] = 3468

(x-2)^2+(y+3)^2 = 3468 +4+9

(x-2)^2+(y+3)^2 = 3481

(x-2)^2+(y+3)^2 = (59)^2

The equation of the surface of the earth is (x-2)^2+(y+3)^2 = (59)^2

The centre and the radius of the circle described by the Earth’s surface,

Center =(2,-3) and radius = [(59)^2]^1/2 = 59

A telecommunication satellite is on orbit 0.6 units above the Earth’s surface. Find the equation of
the circle described by the satellite.
