RULES ON TB TESTING & MOVEMENTS
As you are aware all animals over 42 days (6 weeks) of age from herds on annual or bi-annual TB
tests must be pre-movement tested unless they move to a dedicated slaughter only market or the
Slaughter/Red section of a ‘6’ Day STANDSTILL market.

PLEASE NOTE IF YOU ARE BRINGING CATTLE TO MARKET FROM 3 AND 4 YEARLY TESTED
HOLDINGS YOU ARE UNAFFECTED BY THESE REQUIREMENTS.

In order to offer the best service to our widespread client base, we will continue to hold dedicated
Slaughter only markets every other Wednesday. (Please see schedule of markets in this report).

Cattle from 1 and 2 yearly tested holdings do NOT need to be pre-movement tested to be sold at a
DEDICATED slaughter market.

Store Cattle from 1 and 2 yearly tested holdings MUST have a pre-movement test to be sold at a
‘6’ DAY STANDSTILL market. Finished cattle can be sold in the Red section of a ‘6 ‘Day STANDSTILL
market to go straight to slaughter.

We believe that this procedure will be in everyone’s best interest and look forward to continuing
to provide a complete marketing service to all our clients.

The market is licenced to accept cattle from TB Restricted Herds, ie. Herds that have had a TB
breakdown in our Red (Slaughter only) markets subject to the following conditions:
   a. The animals being presented for sale must have had a negative TB test in the previous 90
       days.
   b. In order for you to bring your stock here you will need to obtain a licence (TB24B) from
your local Defra Animal Health Office.

Obviously there will be many concerns and questions that you may have, we will continue to
update you in this publication or better still ring anytime.

Steers - 88 averaged 194.86p
A decent entry although today many more second quality sorts with run after run of black
and whites on offer.

Today cattle were again dearer on the week with the ringside packed to capacity with
buyers.

Top steer today was consigned by Andrew Geary , Milton Keynes who sold Limousins to
241.5p - £1236.48 with another at 237.5p - £1403.63. Brian Wain, Rugby sold Limousins to
240.5p - £1618.57. Ian Stancombe sold Limousins to 235.5p - £1328.22. Clive Goulsbra sold

231.5p - £1280.20. David and Louise Todd sold Limousins to £1731.02 and £1652.39.

Today E graded steers 228p plus with U+’s 219-227p and –U’s 208-218p and R grades
203-207p and O+’s 195-202p.

Today plenty of black and whites which were an exceptional trade with the better end 180-
188p, more Holstein sorts but with meat sold from 170-178p and plainer sorts 156-166p.

Many many more urgently required, simply miles in front of the deadweight - not by a bit,
by a country mile!!
