Calgary Academy of Chefs and Cooks Minutes for May 7th, 2012 1) Meeting called to order at 7:18 pm 2) Code of Ethics read by Dana Rogers 3) Chris Murphy spoke regarding job descriptions of all Board positions and for all to please think about nominations coming up later in the meeting 4) Dana: a. Welcomed all Guests b. Thanked Sysco for hosting this meeting and presented appreciation certificate to Blair Schmidt. c. Thank you to Sysco for donating May door fees back to the CACC Education fund. d. Also thank Chefs Christopher Sprentz and Albert Kuhn for the fine food e. Motion to approve April 2012 minutes i. 1st = Chris Murphy ii. 2nd = Peter Syriste iii. All in favor f. Treasurer report: i. Books entered and balanced up to April 30, 2012 ii. If you would like more information please contact the Treasurer g. The following members / Associates to received Certificates and were sworn in by Beat Hegnauer – i. Roberto Benedicto ii. John May iii. Christopher Pana iv. Andrew Carine v. Tree of Life – Ted Wilson 5) Guest Speakers: a. Blair Schmidt Vice President, Territory Sales Business Resources & Marketing i. Go Local Program ii. Restaurant Growth iii. Sales in the food industry iv. Good year to come b. Arsene Robichaud, Seafood Specialist i. Sustainable Blue ii. Producer of normal and exotic fish iii. Clean and recycle water treatment iv. Waste to fertilizer v. Focus on technology 6) Old Business: a. Easter Seals – Blake Chapman i. Tremendous thanks to all who help with Easter Seals ii. 40 High School students assisted iii. We have helped raise approximately $1.2 Million for Easter Seals over the last 25 years iv. All the extra food was donated to the Mustard Seed 7) Any new business: a. Fred Malley – i. There were 4 successful CCC candidates this exam period ii. Calgary’s Andrew Carnie was presented with his CCC certificate, pin and medal. iii. Congratulations to Andrew from all iv. Another course will be starting Oct 2012 and April 2013 b. Helmut Schoderbock – i. Spoke regarding all board positions and how important it is for everyone to help this team succeed. ii. How important the involvement from members is to make the CACC successful iii. Spoke regarding the new website iv. Spoke regarding the completion of the board job descriptions 8) Elections: Chris Murphy a. Nominations were held for the following positions: 1. Vice President – Dana Rogers by acclimation 2. Secretary – 2 years – tabled to June meeting 3. Treasurer – 2 years – Andrew Carine has been nominated and will let his name stand at June meeting 4. Junior Membership – Sean Forrester by acclamation 5. Chef Social (#1) – Andy Waters by acclimation 6. Chef Social (#2) – tabled to June meeting 7. Associate Director – tabled to June meeting 8. Associate Social Director – tabled to June meeting 9.
