                            Hexagon bars in UNS 32760 and ASTM A 453 Grade 660 A and D

Introduction

Producing nuts or small components with a Hexagon form has required the purchase of a specific Hexagon
forging or alternatively machining from round bar. Machining from round bar is wasteful and very time
consuming, resulting in a loss of 20 % of the material as a minimum!

In order to reduce costs and improve productivity for fastener and small valve body producers, Böhler UK have
invested in Hexagon profile in two grades; UNS 32760 and ASTM A 453 grade 660 AD. The UNS 32760 is
produced and tested to Norsok D 57 by our newly accredited Böhler Ybbstal Profile mill, which gained Norsok
M650 approval in March 2012. All the material is certified and approved to API 6A PSL3, which includes the Heat
treatment charts and the NDT testers’ qualification records. The ASTM A 453 Grade 660 is Heat treated to
condition A and tested to D properties. Stress rupture tests have also been carried out and included in the test
reports. We have also carried out Impact testing at Sub zero temperatures, as many oil and gas customers are
now asking for this as a specific requirement. API 6A PSL 3 certification is standard. Both grades conform to
NACE MR 0175.

Dimensional tolerances:

All the material conforms to the ANSI B 18.2.2 Table 9: “Dimensions of Heavy Hex Nuts and Heavy Hex Jam
Nuts”. Metric Hexagon form conforms to BS 3692: “ISO Metric precision Hexagon nuts”.

Other Grades

As well as producing the above grades for stock, we are also able to offer UNS 31803 UNS 32205, UNS 32750,
UNS 31254, UNS32550 and 316L to Norsok standards, plus nickel base alloys, 718, 825 and 625 to order. Alloy
steels and any other grades will be considered. Minimum order quantities are small, as little as 200 kg can be

happy to make an offer, provided the minimum order quantity of £ 50.00 is exceeded.
