Highlight of the CRJC racing calendar is the $160,000 Listed XXXX Gold Grafton Cup
(2400m), on Thursday July 12. Horses from all over the east coast of Australia, plus New
Zealand, line up to contest for the first prize of $104,000. Tooheys (XXXX Gold) will still
continue their tradition of inviting over 400 clients to the Grafton Cup. The CRJC would like to
thank the personal efforts of local Tooheys representative Doug McClymont, for his support in
ensuring that the 2007 XXXX Gold Grafton Cup will be as successful as possible.

The 2005 XXXX Gold Grafton Cup honours went to a July Carnival regular visitor in Tim
Martin and his improving galloper Stormhill. Ridden by one of the State’s leading riders in
Chris Munce, the victory gave Chris his 2 Grafton Cup win. His previous victory was in 1999
aboard the Harold Norman trained Count Scenario. Stormhill was an all the way victor holding
off the determined Precise Timing who looked the winner 250m out (Ross Stitt-Zac Purton)
but failed by a neck on the line. Dancing Daggers (Grahame Begg-Brent Stanley) came home
well for third a further 3½ lengths away.

Stormhill subsequently went on to win the Group 3 Kingston Town Stakes at Rosehill in
September 2005 and was unsuccessful in the Group 1 Metropolitan Hcp at Randwick in
October after starting well in the market.

There will be two (2) infield big screens in action again on Cup day along with Sky Channel
providing live interviews from the track to the stay-at-home punters. There will be live
entertainment in the form of young band Push who will be located behind the Ramornie Bar
area, similar to last year.

In addition, there will be the Daily Examiner Fashions on the Field with some outstanding
prizes up for grabs. Categories this year will include Best Dressed Lady, Best Dressed
Couple and Best Hat. Our spotters will be on the ground throughout the morning identifying
potential candidates for each category or you can register yourself at the registration area.
Finalists in each category will be paraded on the course proper prior between races 2 and 3
on the day.

Judging for the Fashions on the Field will include celebrity guest judge “Adro” – winner of
Australia’s Biggest Loser competition aired earlier in the year on Channel TEN. Adro will be a
guest of the Club and Southern Cross TEN on the day.

XXXX Gold Grafton Cup day also sees the drawing of the Grafton Travel Agency/Southern
Cross TEN race book competition. This year, the winner will receive the choice of two
outstanding prizes to Sydney. The winner will either receive the Sydney Spring Carnival
Epsom Day/NRL Grand Final package or two (2) tickets to “The Boy From Oz” prize. Both
prizes include airfares and accommodation for two (2) people. To enter, you must purchase a
racebook (as many as you like) at any of the lead up race meetings to the Carnival, fill out the
coupon and place in the barrel outside the race day office. Last entries are taken on South
Grafton Cup Day, Sunday July 9.

Prior to the running of the XXXX Gold Grafton Cup, entries will be matched up with the Cup
runners and the lucky entrant who draws the Cup winner will be on their way to Sydney for
one of two exciting packages.
