                    UnOrganized Drugs
They are dried constituents of animal or vegetable origin, they have
no cellular structure. They are either:
    derived from parts of plants or animals by some processes of:
    extraction
    exudation (normally or pathologically by incision)
    decoction


    OR are natural secretions such as myrrh.

   Definition: It is the residue left after the distillation of the
   volatile oil from the oleo-resin of various Plnus species.



                            Description

    Solubility          • Insoluble in hot water, Soluble in alcohol

                         Chemical Tests

1- In a dry test tube: dissolve very few amount (0.1 g) of powder in
5 ml acetic anhydride, then add 1 drop of conc. H2SO4 → purple →
violet


- In a dry test tube: dissolve 0.1 g of powder in least amount of
CHCL3 + 5 ml petroleum ether, shake and filter
    → take 2 ml of filtrate + 4 ml cupric acetate → emerald green
    color in the ether layer ( upper layer)

                                   Uses
1- Stimulant and diuretic
2- Ingredient of some ointments and printing inks

                               Acacia


       Definition: The dried gummy exudates obtained
       from the stem & branches of Acacia Senegal




                          Description


 Condition             • Powder

   Colour              • Yellowish white

    Odour              • Odourless

     Taste             • Mucilaginous
                       • Soluble in hot water forming viscous solution on
 Solubility              cooling , insoluble in alcohol



                        Chemical Tests

1- In a porcelain dish: soak the powder in drop of H2O + N/50 I2
   solution → -ve (NO blue or crimson color)

2- In a test tube: Dissolve 1 g of powder in 10 ml H2O + pb sub
   acetate solution → flocculent ppt

                      Tragacanth

       Definition: It is the dried gummy exudates
       obtained from the stem of Astragalus
       gummifer

     Solubility               cooling , insoluble in alcohol



                       Chemical tests

1- In porcelain dish put the powder soaked in water + N/50 I2 
   Blue spot

2- Powder + 2ml alcoholic KOH heat on W.B.  Canary yellow
   color

     Definition: The solid residue obtained by
     evaporating the juice flows from the cut leaves of
     different species of Aloe

                           Chemical tests

Modified Borntrager's test:
Powder + 5 ml dilute HCl + 5ml ferric chloride , heat in water bath for
15 min, filter while hot, then cool. Filtrate + CHCl 3 shake well, take
the lower layer in test tube+ dil ammonia  rose red color in the
ammonia layer (upper layer)

       species of red algae
