Thank you for considering Daegu University for your graduate studies. Daegu University strongly encourages the
enrollment of students from other countries. The institution subscribes to the principles of international education, and the
recognition of the values of cultural exchange is reflected in our philosophy of education. In this regard, we welcome
international students to our campus.


Please follow the directions given below carefully, as any deviation from the procedures could slow down the processing of
your application for admission. It is the responsibility of each applicant to follow the application procedures completely and
correctly and to be certain that all materials have been submitted to the Office of the Graduate School by the appropriate
deadline for receipt of materials. Incomplete applications will not be forwarded to the departments for a decision. All
documents and other materials submitted by or for applicants for admission to the Graduate Office become the property of
this institution and cannot be returned.


It is important to fill out the application form carefully, prepare all the required materials, and put them in a packet. Please

* Prior to completing the application, the applicant must first consult with an academic advisor from
the relevant department at Daegu University about his/her program eligibility. Please contact the
Office of Graduate School for a list of prospective academic advisors.


2. Eligibility
Applicants must meet one of the following conditions:
- An applicant holding foreign citizenship whose parents are foreign citizens
- An applicant who completed the entire 16-year education from elementary school to university in a foreign country


A. For master's programs
· Applicants must have (or are expected to have) the equivalent of the four-year Korean bachelor's degree from an
accredited college or university.
· Applicants can apply for majors that are different from their undergraduate majors. In this case, applicants must take
designated supplementary units before graduation.


B. For doctoral programs
· Applicants must have (or are expected to have) the equivalent of the two-year Korean master's degree from an accredited
college or university.
· Applicants can apply for majors that are different from their majors at the master's level. In this case, applicants must take
designated supplementary units before graduation.


3. The Number of Students to be admitted
The final number of student to be admitted varies depending on the decision of the admissions committee of the Graduate
School.

5. Admissions Review Procedure
* International students will be selected through document screening.
A. The admissions committee of each academic department, which consists of more than three faculty members of the
department, reviews applications and recommends candidates for admission to the Graduate School.
B. On the basis of the department's recommendation, the admissions committee of the Graduate School makes the final
decision on admission.


6. Application Materials
1. A completed application form (the Application Form prepared by Daegu University must be used.)
2. One photograph (3.5cm×4.5cm): It should be attached on the application form.
* Chinese students living out of Korea should submit one additional photograph.
3. An original copy of the highest diploma that the applicant has earned or is to earn.

5. A statement of Study Plan (the form prepared by Daegu University must be used.)
6. A Biography (the form prepared by Daegu University must be used.)
7. A photocopy of the applicant's government-approved identification card and passport
8. A statement of Financial Plan (the form prepared by Daegu University must be used.)
9. Documents that prove the financial sponsor's ability to cover costs of education and living expenses for the applicant:
A. An official bank statement of balance that shows $10,000.00 and over under the name of the applicant or his/her parents.
B. Official certificates of the sponsor's employment, property tax payment, and/or business registration.
10. A Recommendation Letter for Students (the form prepared by Daegu University must be used and the applicant's
academic advisor must fill out the form.)
11. A Education Record Request (the form prepared by Daegu University must be used.)
12. A photocopy of the applicant's government-approved family register: This document must show the names of the
applicant and his/her parents.
13. A sample of work or portfolio (only for application for Athletic and Arts fields).


▶ The transcripts and diplomas issued by the overseas universities must be original copies and be accompanied by Korean
translation.


▶ Documents to be submitted when the financial sponsor is a faculty member of Daegu University
A. An official bank statement of balance that shows $10,000.00.
B. Certificate of Employment (issued by the Academic Affairs Team)
C. Earned Income Withholding Receipt (issued by the Financial Team)

10. Funding
A. Three types of financial aid are available for international graduate students: (1) tuition reduction, (2) international
graduate research assistantship, and (3) part-time teaching.
 1) Tuition reduction: All international graduate students receive 50% reduction of tuition.
 2) International graduate research assistantship: Those who are awarded assistantship by the Guideline for International
Research Assistantship of the Office of Research Affairs receive a waiver of tuition.
B. Part-time teaching: International graduate students who are asked to teach are paid according to Daegu University's pay
scales for part-time teaching.


11. Important Reminders
A. If any parts of the submitted documents turn out to be false, admission will be automatically revoked.
B. It is the applicant's responsibility to provide a reliable means of contact (eg. correct address, telephone number and E-
mail) through which the Graduate School can communicate with the applicant and send the letter of acceptance. If the letter
of acceptance cannot be delivered to the applicant due to incorrect/insufficient contact information provided by the
applicant and, as a result, the applicant fails to register, the applicant's admission will be revoked, and the applicant is
solely responsible for the revocation.
C. All international graduate students who receive financial aide may meet the Korean language proficiency requirement
within 6 months of their entrance into the Graduate School. Failure to meet this requirement may result in the cancellation
of financial aid.
D. International graduate research assistants must obtain the "permission about the engagement in activities not covered by
the status of sojourn" from the Daegu Immigration Office at their own expense.
